Happy Birthday to ”Requiem for My Harlequin”! 🎠 The song & the music video were released three years ago, on April 1st, 2022.
💜 To celebrate, we’d love to hear your memories from that time — something related to the song or something completely different! So much can happen in three years..
Fun facts: the video was filmed at G18 Ballroom (@g18_events) in Helsinki and in a private apartment in Espoo, Finland.
On the first day of shooting, the set looked like a true carnival — in a single hallway, we had the entire band and our amazing guest stars (@belenosshow, @tiptopwalkers, and Ramona Reinvall) getting ready with their makeup and costumes.
They were supported by our makeup artist (@tmialexlaulajainen) and costume wizard (@kupla_erikoisompelimo), as well as our talented director and camera & lighting crew (@miikahakala, @mauri_hiltunen, and @henri_ilanen).
We also had some helpful friends taking care of catering and running errands (including the lovely @tsatsikis). The video also features a quick glimpse of Elvis the Cat and our photographer @tiiaohman.
We captured tons of great footage that day, with everyone taking turns on the ”stage.” On the second day, we focused solely on Marko’s mirror performance, with a much smaller crew present. This created a fun contrast between the lively, bustling carnival day and the intimate series of close-ups and mirror tricks.

С днём рождения «Реквием по моему Арлекину»! 🎠 Песня и клип были выпущены три года назад, 1 апреля 2022 года.

💜 В честь праздника мы хотели бы услышать ваши воспоминания о том времени — что-то связанное с песней или что-то совершенно другое! За три года может произойти многое.

Забавные факты: видео было снято в G18 Ballroom (@g18_events) в Хельсинки и в частной квартире в Эспоо, Финляндия.
В первый день съёмок съёмочная площадка напоминала настоящий карнавал — в одном коридоре мы собрали всю группу и наших потрясающих приглашённых звёзд (@belenosshow, @tiptopwalkers и Рамону Рейнвалл), которые готовились к съёмкам, нанося грим и надевая костюмы.

Их поддерживали наш визажист (@tmialexlaulajainen) и костюмер (@kupla_erikoisompelimo), а также наш талантливый режиссёр и оператор с осветителем (@miikahakala, @mauri_hiltunen и @henri_ilanen).

У нас также были отзывчивые друзья, которые позаботились о питании и выполняли поручения (в том числе прекрасные @tsatsikis). На видео также можно мельком увидеть кота Элвиса и нашего фотографа @tiiaohman.

В тот день мы отсняли множество отличных кадров, и все по очереди выходили на «сцену». На второй день мы сосредоточились исключительно на зеркальном представлении Марко, и съёмочная группа была гораздо меньше. Это создало забавный контраст между оживлённым, шумным карнавалом и интимной серией крупных планов и зеркальных трюков.

Today we wrapped the principal photography for the next @ollie_t_gtr music video! Can’t wait to share the song (it’s a banger!) and the video with you all. I think we’re going to go to surprising places with this one. My goal was to try things I would never dare to try with Ollie’s other musical endeavours. My motto was basically this: if it feels familiar, go to opposite direction. I used some camera tricks and hardware on this one I’ve never used in a project before. As for the story I got to do things I usually can’t do. It was all so refreshing you wouldn’t believe! I honestly didn’t know if it was going to work or not and that kept things interesting. Suffice to say I’m equally excited and terrified of the impending release… 📸: @tiiaohman

A portrait of Marko (the singer of @poetsofthefallband ) I took a year ago (yes, I can be a little lazy to publish my stuff sometimes… 😅). He’s been in front of my camera numerous times and has always given a top notch performance. I’m so glad to have been able to collaborate with him on so many projects, hopefully many more to come. Treasured memories. His music has been an important source of inspiration for me since 2003 and continues to be so.

#TriviaThursday So here’s a random behind the scenes story that I just recalled yesterday. You guys remember that one particular baseball bat from @poetsofthefallband ’s Moonlight Kissed video wielded by @artosir ’s character? (In real life he’s the nicest guy, btw!) My dear friend @henri_ilanen bought that bat for our production like a day or two prior to filming. (He’s not just buying baseball gear for us. He has also worked as a gaffer and still photographer on many of my projects over decades). Now we wanted to convey the idea that Arto’s character had been using the bat before so it shouldn’t look brand new right? So whadda ya do? Well, Henri and me, we spent a considerable amount of time to bash rocks and dirt and whatnot with the bat the night before filming. We probably looked like two mad men really pissed at some small insect or something. Hopefully no one was watching… The end result was pretty badly bruised baseball bat ready for close ups! #behindthescenes #moonlightkissed #poetsofthefall #musicvideo 📸: @henri_ilanen

Yep, another day at the office. 12 hours of waiting, eating (snacks&pizza&candy), telling jokes, 15min in front of the camera, then repeat the eating and jokes until the end of the day. One of the dozens of super cool poses I did in the Stay Forever video shoot, none of which ended up in the final cut. Oh well. I’m sure the video is better without them. At least there is some photo evidence for future generations. (Nah, it’s perfect, thanks for all the hard work @miikahakala !)

Without getting too technical what this means, suffice to say it’ll have more vivid colours and brighter highlights compared to old school presentation. Hi y'all! Still remember the videoshoot teaser pics we posted last December? The promises we made to keep you posted on what were we on about? Well, now’s finally the time to let you in on the secret!
For almost two decades now, we’ve been wanting to do a video to one of our favourite songs. That song is Stay. We are so happy it’s finally coming out and very soon too.
The video will be released on March 15th, this year. So in just one month!

So here we go! Next week there’ll be a new @poetsofthefallband single release and accompanying music video directed by yours truly. This is a very special year to collaborate with these fantastic musicians as it marks the 15th anniversary of their first single Late Goodbye that immediately made me a fan all those years ago. I was in high school back then hoping to make movies and music videos and whatnot someday. Wandered the streets in the rain and enjoyed the landscape that song painted. Now here we are.
By the way, here’s the first official screenshot from the video! The whole team put so much love into this thing and can’t wait to share it with you next week!

I had the pleasure of working with some amazing, creative and still super relaxed people, which is always a great thing in a hectic environment with busy schedules.
