Uhmmm... what can I say? It's been four long years since I first saw this amazing band live. As a concert photographer with over 10 years of experience, I rarely get to witness such joy, energy and passion on stage. That makes it all even more wonderful for me to have finally seen and photographed @poetsofthefallband live again!

Tampere is so much fun that after the festival I stayed overnight and visited the Game On exhibition. Sooo much oldskool gaming nostalgia, plus some more recent & oddly familiar stuff, much recommended🤘🎮 (That’s me at the top spot in Asteroids 🚀)

I recently came across this blast from the past: I was interviewed for MikroBitti (a popular Finnish computer/gaming magazine) in -94. Our band Dance Nation had just released our first (and only) full-length album which we made in my room. Yeah and would you take a look at that super stylish guy in the photo (I do still miss that Roland JD-800 synth though, shouldn’t have sold it). 😎

Fast forward 30+ years, and some things have changed, but not that much: I still code and make music in my room, just like back then.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays & an Amazing New Year! 🎄🎅🎁 I’ll take a little (well-deserved, I hope) break from studio work and treat myself to some glögi and joulutorttu. ☃️ Looking forward to 2026 with new music, new shows and new adventures! 🥳🎶

I just learned that the reflection of the moon on water is called moonglade. In Finnish we call it ”kuunsilta” or ”bridge of the moon” 🌛

Morning walk in London’s beautiful Regent’s Park 🌳 I’ve visited London several times in recent years, but usually I have seen Heathrow, a hotel room and a backstage, and that’s pretty much it. This time I intend to see a lot more! 😎

My first time in London Zoo! 🐒 I didn’t bring my proper camera this time (and my phone camera is getting a little behind the times), so I managed to get only a few decent shots. Still, many cool animal encounters and a beautiful place overall! 🌺

OK hear me out. I don’t bake, I don’t really cook, I’ve just never been into it. I don’t remember ever really baking anything in my life (since elementary school at least). It’s not that I lack some rudimentary human skill (I hope), it’s just never been my thing.

But this weekend I decided to see what happens if I just, well, try to bake something, anything. I found a recipe for blueberry muffins, and I could just about understand everything it said, so that was a good starting point. It’s probably the simplest recipe in the world for anyone who bakes more regularly, but when you have basically zero experience (and I wanted to do everything without any help), there’s plenty of mini challenges along the way.

I went to the shop to get everything I couldn’t find in the kitchen, followed the recipe the best I could, mixed the ingredients to make the dough, added some pecan nuts on top, and put everything in the oven. At this point I was already pretty happy I made it that far, regardless of the outcome (the muffins actually being edible would of course be a nice bonus).

Lo and behold, they looked OK and tasted great! A small step for humankind, a big one for me 👨‍🍳 And hey, making them was actually pretty fun, and eating something you made yourself does feel nice. 😋

20 years! I took these photos in the summer of 2004 when we were recording vocals and acoustic guitars for our debut album Signs of Life. I remember it was a hot summer, and we did have a portable air conditioner (which you can see in the background), but obviously we couldn’t keep it on while recording, so there were three sweaty guys in a small room trying to make music. 😅🎶 We didn’t have our own studio back then, but there was a music room at Futuremark/MadOnion where I was working as a web designer / coder / composer at the time, so it was a natural choice for our recording sessions (as it happens, Futuremark and Remedy had neighbouring offices back then, and that’s how I also met Marko and @ollie_t_gtr in the first place…. but that’s a story for another time). Since I had my dayjob at Futuremark until 2007, I mostly worked on our first two albums during weekends and nights (not to mention touring, rehearsals, social media, etc…). Thinking about it now, I don’t know how I was able to do it, but somehow we managed! 💪 The microphone you see in the photos is an AKG SolidTube which I stole from my previous workplace, and we still use it today to record pretty much all vocals. If it ain’t broken… 🎤 I took the photos with my SonyEricsson mobile phone, which was pretty advanced for the time, but had a really crappy camera even by 2004 standards. But at least we now have some memories from these early times! Signs of Life went straight to #1 on the Finnish album charts and sold platinum, which was a complete (but nice) surprise to us, and a great way to kickstart our career. Now, 20 years later, we are just starting the recording sessions of our 10th studio album. A lot has changed during that time, but thankfully, many things are still exactly the same. 😌
