Poets tour diaries Once again our cars plummet through the landscape like a flash flood, taking us beyond the city limits and on to the wayward roads to wherever we’ll find our tomorrow. All the while last night’s memory still warms our blood and lingers in our minds like an embrace from a dear friend or a lover’s kiss. And behind our eyes and our dark glasses, we relive it all over again. From the moment Requiem ignites, and everyones’ heels seem to suddenly take them up two feet in the air, making the entire mass of humanity roil with love and energy like a restless ocean of raised hands and voices and bopping heads, to the most sincere thank yous before the lights finally go out. . . . Most of the cars seem to be white. I don’t know if it is a fact, a trend, or just my imagination, but that’s what I find myself musing. Perhaps it’s mankind’s mildest, inadvertent nod towards soothing mother earth and the vagaries of her stormy skies. A vague attempt at a perpetual winter rolling down the freeways, the life blood and veins of our existence, in order to cool off the embers of our actions we’ve left to smolder for too long. There is hope. I let the thought fade. For a while we are just happy to sit here, watching the miles pass by, in silence. Looking forward to what is to come. Even my dark disquiet seems content, without a need, somewhere in the recesses of my soul, as though it never were. -Marko
