THE COW
by Robert Louis Stevenson

The friendly cow, all red and white,
I love with all my heart:
She gives me cream with all her might,
To eat with apple tart.

She wanders lowing here and there,
And yet she cannot stray,
All in the pleasant open air,
The pleasant light of day;

And blown by all the winds that pass
And wet with all the showers,
She walks among the meadow grass
And eats the meadow flowers.

THE BABY'S DANCE
by Ann Taylor

Dance, little baby, dance up high,
Never mind baby, mother is by;
Crow and caper, caper and crow,
There little baby, there you go:
Up to the ceiling, down to the ground,
Backwards and forwards, round and round.
Then dance, little baby, and mother shall sing,
With the merry gay coral, ding, ding, a-ding, ding.

AT THE ZOO
by William Makepeace Thackeray

First I saw the white bear, then I saw the black;
Then I saw the camel with a hump upon his back;
Then I saw the grey wolf, with mutton in his maw;
Then I saw the wombat waddle in the straw;
Then I saw the elephant a-waving of his trunk;
Then I saw the monkeys-mercy, how unpleasantly they-smelt!

The Frog Prince
==============
lyrics

On a sunny day
The princess by the well did play
With her favorite golden ball,
But then it fell, deep into the well.

Oh the princess cried
A sorrow that she could not hide.
Her tears began to flow and fall
Because she’d lost her favorite golden ball.

Then she heard a sound
The princess turned and looked around.
From in the well a voice did call
I’ll bring you back your favorite golden ball.

All I ask of you
Is that you do a favor too
And take me home and treat me well
And I’ll return your golden ball that fell.

Yes the princess said.
I’ll even let you share my bed
If only you’ll return my ball
The one I dropped and down the well did fall.

To her great surprise
A frog appeared before her eyes
And gave her back her golden ball,
But seeing that frog, it made her fair skin crawl.

So she ran away
She took her ball and did not stay.
She did not keep her promised word
And as she ran, the croaking frog she heard.

Late that night there came a knock on the door.
The princess dropped her dinner on the floor.
For she saw the frog was standing there
She gave a start and felt a scare.

Princess don’t forget you promised me
I returned your ball so willingly.
Now you must uphold just what you said
I will share your bed.

The princess said no you can’t make me,
But the king said daughter don’t you see
As a princess you must keep your word
You made your promise, my piece you’ve heard.

The princess stomped her foot and started to pout,
But she knew that she had no way out
So she took the frog with her to bed
As she’d promised, as she’d said

When the morning broke
The princess and the frog awoke
The frog no longer seemed so bad
The princess thought she could like him just a tad.

As their friendship grew
The princess and the frog, they knew
Forever he would be her friend
And then she kissed his nose right on the end.

To her great surprise
A prince stood right before her eyes
And deep in love with him she fell
The prince who’d been the frog inside the well.

Английский язык текст песни Fairy Tale Songs: Cinderella

Дневник

Вторник, 09 Июня 2009 г. 21:25 + в цитатник
Once upon a time
In a land far away
There lived a beautiful maiden
Who slaved day after day

For her wicked step-mother
And her step-sisters too.
She never heard the end
Of them telling her to do

Cleaning, laundry
Chores and more
Make us breakfast
Sweep the floor.

Darn our socks
And underwear.
Take the garbage
Over there.

Cinderella! Cinderella!
Life is truly grand
Having you at hand.
Cinderella! Cinderella!
You must do as we command.

A messenger came knocking
On the family he did call
To give an invitation
To the prince’s royal ball.

All the eligible maidens
Were invited to attend
To meet the handsome prince who hoped to
Find love in the end.

Cinderella! Cinderella!
Help us to prepare.
Help us do our hair.
Cinderella! Cinderella!
Come and find what we shall wear.

Cinderella did her best
And helped the sisters to get dressed,
But she felt down deep inside
A secret wish she could not hide.

Please allow me to attend
As your sister and your friend.
I would like to have my chance
With the prince to dance.

The sisters laughed.
The mother sneered.
Her hopes were dashed
And her eyes teared.

Cinderella! Cinderella!
Who would look at you?
You have chores to do!
Cinderella! Cinderella!
You may go when you are through.

Cinderella worked so hard
To clean the house and then the yard.
Cleaning, laundry, mending too
There was just so much to do.

Cinderella! Cinderella!
I am finally through.
Now I can come too.
Cinderella! Cinderella!
Who would want to dance with you?

The sisters laughed.
The mother sneered.
Her hopes were dashed.
And her eyes teared.

Cinderella! Cinderella!
You are such a mess!
And you have no dress!
Cinderella! Cinderella!
Left alone in her distress.

Cinderella dried her eyes.
And looked around in great surprise.
Heaven sent from up above
A dress and glass slippers carried by a dove.

Cinderella cried with glee,
"Someone’s watching over me.
Now I can go to the ball
And dance before them all."

At the ball the prince she saw
Gazed upon her quite in awe.
Together all the night they danced,
But at the clock she often glanced.

Cinderella! Cinderella!
"I’m in love with you."
"And I love you too."
Cinderella! Cinderella!
"Stay with me please say, 'I do.'"

Midnight struck the clock did sound.
Cinderella turned around.
Off she ran with such a fright
And disappeared into the night.

Cinderella! Cinderella!
You forgot a shoe.
That’s how I’ll find you.
Cinderella! Cinderella!
And for you my love is true.

The prince searched everywhere he knew
For the girl who fit the shoe.
He knocked on the family’s door
Where Cinderella scrubbed the floor.

The wicked step-mother took a broom
And locked Cinderella in her room.
Cinderella thought of what to do
While the sisters tried the shoe.

Cinderella! Cinderella!
She broke the lock in two.
Down the stairs she flew.
Cinderella! Cinderella!
"Please let me try on the shoe."

Cinderella fit the shoe
And the prince from that day knew
They would live in wedded bliss
And sealed it with a kiss.

Cinderella! Cinderella!
Come and live with me.
Happy we will be!
Cinderella! Cinderella!
Ever after happily!

Смешные и поучительные стихи от Kenn Nesbitt
(тексты на английском).

I'm Learning To Play the Piano Today
=========================

I'm learning to play the piano today.
Tomorrow I'll learn the guitar.
The day after that I'll get good on the drums,
so I can become a big star.

The next day I'll learn how to sing and to rap,
and practice some dancing techniques.
And, that way, I'm sure to be famous and rich
in no more than one or two weeks.

I just told my mother my excellent plan,
explaining the millions I'll earn.
She told me that, firstly, I'll need to learn patience.
So, how long will that take to learn?

--Kenn Nesbitt

My Chicken's On the InternetMy chicken's on the Internet
======================================

She surfs the web all day.
I've tried to stop her browsing
but, so far, there's just no way.

She jumps up on the mouse
and then she flaps around like mad
to click on every hyperlink
and every pop-up ad.

She plays all sorts of chicken games.
She messages her folks.
She watches chicken videos
and forwards chicken jokes.

She writes a blog for chickens
and she uploads chicken pics.
She visits chicken chat rooms
where she clucks about her chicks.

I wouldn't mind so much
except my keyboard's now a wreck.
She hasn't learned to type yet;
she can only hunt and peck.

--Kenn Nesbitt

I Don't Know What to Do Today
=======================

I don't know what to do today.
Perhaps I'll go outside and play,
or stay indoors and watch TV,
or take a bath, or climb a tree.

Or maybe I'll go ride my bike,
or pick my nose, or take a hike,
or jump a rope, or scratch my head,
or play a game, or stay in bed,
or dance a jig, or pet the cat,
or drink some milk, or buy a hat,
or sing a song, or read a book,
or change my socks, or learn to cook,
or dig a hole, or eat a pear,
or call my friends, or brush my hair,
or hold my breath, or have a race,
or stand around and slap my face.

I'm so confused, and bored, and blue,
to not know what I ought to do.
I guess that I should just ask you.
So, what do you think I should do?

--Kenn Nesbitt

Get Up! Get Up!"Get up! Get up! Get out of bed
=================================

You lazy bum, you sleepyhead.
Yes, that is what my mother said
at eight-oh-five today.

She left the house and drove to work.
She'll soon be feeling like a jerk
when she finds out -- I have to smirk --
today is Saturday.

--Kenn Nesbitt

I Played a Game
============

I played a game.
I rode my bike.
I had a snack.
I took a hike.
I read a book.
I watched T.V.
I built a fort.
I climbed a tree.
I surfed the web.
I played guitar.
I caught a bug
inside a jar.
I called my friends.
I dug a hole.
I kicked a ball.
I scored a goal.
I had a swim.
I learned to skate.
I played with toys.
I stayed up late.
It's fair to say
I do like school,
but even more, though,
weekends rule!

--Kenn Nesbitt
