*Chasing the Aurora in Alaska*
A few weeks ago Paul Weeks and I flew into Fairbanks then headed to Denali National Park and Preserve to chase the Aurora. We only ended up getting one night of strong activity, but explored a lot and still came back with some nice photos. -20 F is no joke!
This was my first time in Alaska, which completes my task of visiting each of the 50 US States. Now on to the 196 countries of the world...
Milky Way over Eleven Mile Reservoir.
I took this photo a few weeks back at Eleven Mile Reservoir. The reservoir was still completely covered with ice and snow back then.

Astrophotographer Daniel McVey sent in this photo of Orion taken in Colorado, Dec. 11, 2012. He writes: "Snow covered trees and Orion high in the sky are sure signs that winter has arrived in Summit County, Colorado." This scene is actually composed of two photographs stitched together in Photoshop.
