Old age begins later than we think

Vladimir Yakovlev

It is believed that the main result of increased life expectancy is the fact that older people now live longer. That's not it.

Main, huge, strategic changing before our eyes the whole of humanity consequence of the jump in life expectancy is not that old age now lasts longer, and that it begins much later.

For those who are now 40, 50, 55 years old by today's standards, old age begins years 75 - 80. That is, for a good 25 years - a quarter of a century! - Later than the generation of our parents.

More recently, in human life, there were only three major periods: youth, maturity, old age. Now the "maturity", in fact, happens in 50 years and marks the beginning of a completely new, simply did not exist earlier stage of human life.

What do we know about him?

  1. It lasts almost thirty years - from 50 to about 75 years.

  2. In contrast to earlier concepts, physical and intellectual abilities of a person during this period with the right approach and are not reduced at least no worse, and in some cases better than in his youth.

  3. Potentially, this is the best, most qualitative period in human life as combines health, strength and experience. "If youth knew, if old age could" - is no longer about us. For all the statistics of recent years the happiest time of life, its peak occurs in approximately 65let now.

  4. Those who are now 55 - 65let live this period of the first in the history of mankind. Previously, it was not simple, as people grow old much earlier.

  5. In the next few decades, people aged 50 - 75stanut most massive age group on the planet.

To learn how you can now live after 50, about the amazing, almost fantastic possibilities of this age and people who have learned with 50 live better, brighter, more interesting and richer than before, as a young man

What is different about life after 50 years from all previous life? Yes, the fact that how to live after fifty, we have no one ever taught! - In infancy, we are prepared to childhood, a child - to the youth, in his youth - a youth and as a young man we spend dozens of hours, preparing himself for the upcoming test of maturity. And only the border in 50 years we cross without having the slightest idea about how, what and why to live. There is nothing surprising. Where such knowledge come from, if even for the generation of our parents in old age 50 years officially started, and did not live on assumed and relied start slowly die.

We seldom realize that life is the strategic program, which we strictly follow, in my life, in fact inherent in us by previous generations. It was created by previous generations of those books, movies, educational system, which in his childhood and youth in shaping our consciousness. But the previous generations did not have any concept of life after 50po the simple reason that after fifty years of his life was not in principle. Therefore, there are none in the program of life that we got from them as an inheritance.

In all and every kind of statistics for those who today 50-55ili so, will not begin before age 80 years. This is a very, very nice, of course. We just took and gave as much as 25 years (!) More active and busy life. The problem is that how to use this gift, we have not learned. As a result, over the border in 50I unknowingly agreeing to premature old age, we run the risk of losing good 25-30 years, who - literally - could be the best in our lives.

After 50 years in the life of a wonderful moment comes when I have time, health, power, freedom from social commitment, experience, and before the start of old age, by modern standards, yet good quarter of a century! Do not waste this time for nothing. Then he will be very sorry! If you're over 50, it is now possible for you all everything, new hobbies, new joys and experiences, new career, a new love, a new journey. And the quality of these life experiences are much more than all that was available in green, inept youth or encumbrance of maturity.

Yosef Leitus(Israel)-

The word homeland is getting new attention in theUnited States.

Soon after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, President George W.Bush appointed a director of the Office of Homeland Security in the WhiteHouse. The next year, the U.S. Congress approved a new executive-leveldepartment called the Department of Homeland Security. This departmenttook responsibility for parts of the country’s borders, transportation system, ports and other important structures.

The dictionary tells us that a current definition of homeland refers to thecountry where someone was born or grew up, or a large area where a groupof people can live.

Historically, the Old English word hamland meant "enclosed pasture" — aprotected field for animals. The word homeland first appeared in ModernEnglish in the 1660s. It combined the nouns home” and “land.”

But a deeper look at how the word homeland was used outside of the U.S.shows why some people are not comfortable with it. The government of SouthAfrica used the word homeland for areas it created for only African peoplesduring the period of apartheid. These homelands separated the Africansfrom white citizens.

Friederike Eigler is a professor of German at Georgetown University. She saidthat in Germany in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, people used a similarword to homeland  heimat – to express intense national pride.

“It became more and more a political term because it was sort of meshed upwith ideas of the nation and nationalism. And then that kind of came to a headduring World War II. It became very much tied up very much with notions of the German race, and the nation, nationality or national socialism, and so in that sense it got very discredited as a  result in the postwar period.”

In the early 2000s, when the U.S. government created the Department ofHomeland Security, some objected to the name. Peggy Noonan writes for theWall Street Journal. She thought the Bush administration should change thename. She said homeland “isn’t really an American word.”

James A. Bartlett blogs for The Ethical Spectacle. He thinks the problem is that the word homeland has to do with the idea of being a native. He quotesthe second Merriam Webster definition of homeland: "a state or area set asideto be a state for a people of a particular national, cultural, or racial origin."

Mr. Bartlett believes the word homeland does not describe the United Stateswell. The U.S. is a diverse country of immigrants. Are those immigrants alsoable to call the U.S. their homeland?

Yet an increasing number of Americans seem to like the word. Some peopleare proposing it as the name for the group of people born between 2005 and 2030. For instance, many voters in a 2005 web poll wanted to call the groupthe “Homeland Generation.” The White House used the term in an October2014 report.

Professor Eigler at Georgetown University observed that today’s generation isgrowing up with the war on terror.

My sense is, the larger context again is, with that term, is the importance ofissues of national security in the context of the global war on terror and thatlarger context that is very much part of our contemporary life, and has been for quite some time. And of course, they grew up with that. It wasn’t somethingnew, but it was part of, or is part of their lives from the very beginning.”

Writer Anne Boysen even titled her book about today’s childrenHomelanders.” But she is not certain the term

Google translate .Why this dog every week goes to church, bring tears to anyone!

Why this dog every week goes to church, bring tears to anyone!

This picture does not see every day: a dog inside the church, where the service. But when you learn the history of the animal, the heart is filled with compassion and warmth. That's what a real friendship.

Tommy was just a puppy when he was taken from his mother, and he had to live on the streets of Brindisi in Italy. But as they say, there is a silver lining.

After a while the dog picked up a pensioner Maria Margarita Lochi and took to her home. Tommy was in a terrible state, and she made every possible effort to puppy again felt good.

So, thanks to her, Tommy became a big, beautiful and happy dog. Every Sunday he accompanied the woman to church and sat at her feet. Everything was very good, but time has taken its toll and something happened irreversible, what no one thought.

Maria Lochi died. During the funeral, the dog lay huddled in the place where he used to sit with his mistress. After that, Tommy went every week to go to church and sit in its accustomed place in the hope that his mistress will one day return.

So far I have not come across on the eyes more hard evidence of deep connection between man and animal. First, the story evokes sad thoughts, but then it became clear just how amazing this faithful dog his favorite mistress.

Share this spiritual story with your friends!

THE HAPPY CITY

Did you know that living in a city is actually pretty bad for your happiness? Studies show that you’re more likely to be happy the smaller the city that you live in. But with 5 billion people living in cities by 2030, is there a way we can change the unhappiness found in cities?

Actually, there is. Urban design.

Urban design isn’t just about the best place to build a road or a new sewer. In fact, if it’s done correctly, urban design can make an entire city happier and healthier. And it doesn’t need everyone to be a millionaire at their dream job. In fact, building a happy city is a lot less pie-in-the-sky dreaming and a lot more sustainable, healthy transportation.

In 1998, Enrique Peñalosa was elected mayor of Bogotá, the capital of Colombia and the bustling home of some 6.7 million people. But when Peñalosa was elected, Bogotá was facing huge challenges as a community. It had too many cars, so commuting times were enormous and pollution was terrible, and kidnapping and murder were far too common. So Peñalosa decided to redesign the very fabric of the city. He made it extremely difficult to drive by only letting people commute via car three times a week and banning cars completely for no car days. To make up the difference, he hugely expanded the cycle infrastructure and built the city’s first public transit system.

All of a sudden, streets that had only heard the rumble of car engines were alive with the noise of kids playing and cyclists chatting. Commuting time was halved, and the murder rate fell (even as the country got more violent).

Peñalosa built a city where the bike was the vehicle of choice. But did this actually make people happier?

In short, yes. The longer someone’s car commute, the less happy they are. Long distance car commuters are 40 percent more likely to get divorced. Drivers during peak rush hour experience higher stress levels than fighter pilots who are over enemy territory. On the other hand, commuters who get to work under their own steam exhibit far less stress and have a generally more positive psychological wellbeing.

Urban designers have a chance to change the fabric of a city. And if we let them, they can design a city that benefits everyone’s health, their psychological wellbeing and their safety.

Turns out you can design happiness.

Original heir

Italian proverb

Lived a noble, wise and wealthy king. He had a lovely wife, who despised his love for her, accustomed to the side of the three sons. They have always been hostile to the king, and in no way resembled him. Later, the queen gave birth, already from the king, the fourth son.

Accomplishing circle days, the king was dead, and his body was laid in the royal tomb. The brothers began to argue among themselves for power and went for advice to an old knight. And he said:

- Whose arm enters deeper into the body of the king, and to be the new king.

The first son injured right hand of the sovereign. Second arrow shattered his shoulder bone. Third pierced heart of the king, and was convinced that the kingdom will get him. Fourth, closer to the body of his father, sighed and said sadly:

- Alas, my father, that will not happen, so I paid a wound to my father, living or dead.

When he said that, citizens, raising a young man seated on his father's throne as the true heir.

The United Nations says conflicts forced many peoplefrom their homes

during the first half of 2014. The U.N.refugee agency reported this week that 5.5 millionpeople were forcibly displaced during that six-monthperiod. The agency says these men, women andchildren added to the record 51.2 million people whowere displaced worldwide by the end of 2013. At thisrate, U.N. officials fear the number of people forciblydisplaced might set another

record.

Between January and June of 2014, 1.4 million peoplefled across international borders, becoming refugees. The rest -- more than 4 million people -- becamedisplaced within their own countries.

Adrian Edwards is a spokesman for UNHCR -- the U.N.refugee agency. He says that, for the first time, Syrianshave become the largest refugee population. Untilnow,

Afghans were the single largest population.Afghans were the biggest group

overseen by UNHCRfor more than 30 years.

Syria has really been the war that’s changedeverything -- almost 10 million refugees and internally-displaced people as of mid-2014. Those numbers arestill rising. One in every four refugees that UNHCR

istoday dealing with is a Syrian. Syria is what happenswhen a war won’t be stopped and in that region aroundSyria, where so many refugees are, we're meanwhile seeing that asylum isbecoming massively stretched.”

The new U.N. report says the world is facing a deadly mix of both new

and oldconflicts. The report notes relatively new conflicts in places such as Syria, theCentral African Republic and South Sudan. It says this unrest is taking placeat the same time that old conflicts continue to displace individuals andfamilies.

The UNHCR says there are 2.7 million Afghan refugees worldwide. Theyrepresent the largest protracted

refugee population under the U.N. agency’scare. The report lists the home countries of other big refugee populations. After Syria

and Afghanistan, the largest numbers of refugees under theagency’s care come from Somalia,

Sudan, South Sudan, the DemocraticRepublic of Congo, Myanmar -- also known as Burma -- and Iraq.

The UNHCR’s Adrian Edwards says poor countries and those close

to areasof conflict have the hardest time dealing with refugees.

Relative to their population sizes, Jordan and Lebanon are hosting

mostrefugees -- almost 1.8 million combined. The biggest economic burden thoughis being felt by other countries -- that’s Ethiopia and Pakistan, in particular, which relative to the size of their economies that have more refugees than anyother country.

Major conflicts and displacement in places such as CentralAfrican Republic,

South Sudan is also happening. That's in danger of beingforgotten by publics and by donors.”

Adrian Edwards notes that African conflicts are not limited to African nationsalone. He says the humanitarian and economic effects for poor, neighboringcountries are huge.

He says some countries are sheltering hundreds of thousands of refugees, yet lack the money and supplies to care for them. He says they often fail toreceive the financial support they need from wealthy donor governments.

"And when I die?" The story of Pediatric Surgery.

15 years ago the night runs to us in the staffroom of adoptive sister rest.
- The patient is heavy in the second operating!
I - there, the team had already gathered on the table girl six years. While dressed and sterilized for details. Got in a car accident a family of four. Father, mother and two children, a boy and girl twins. Most affected girl: blow fell in the region of the right rear door, where there was a child. Mother, father and her brother barely affected - scratches and bruises. Help them to be in place.
P "- RґSѓRјR ° Rј (400x400, 124Kb)
The girl fractures, blunt trauma, lacerations and loss of blood.
A few minutes later comes a blood test, and with it the news that it was the third positive we do not have. Critical question - girl "heavy", account for a minute. Urgent did blood parents. My father - the second, the mother - the fourth. Remembered twin brother, he, of course, the third.
They sat on a bench in the waiting room. Mother - in tears, his father pale boy - with despair in his eyes. His clothes were all smeared with blood sisters. I walked over to him and sat down so that our eyes were at the same level.
- Your sister was hit hard - I said.
- Yes, I know - the boy sobbed and wiped his eyes cam. - When we bumped it to strong impact. I held her in her lap, she cried, then stopped and fell asleep.
- You want to save her? Then we have to take your blood for her.
He stopped crying, looked around, thinking, breathing heavily and nodded. I called the nurse gesture.
- This Light aunt. It you are allotted in the treatment room and take blood. Aunt Light very well able to do it, will not hurt.
- Okay. - The boy took a deep breath and reached for his mother. - I love you, Mom! You are the best! - Then, to his father - And you dad, love. Thank you for your bicycle.
Light led him to the treatment, and I ran into a second operating room.
After the operation, when the girl was already transferred to the intensive care unit, returning to the staffroom. Note that our little hero lies on a couch in the treatment under a blanket. Light left him to rest after blood collection. I walked over to him.
- Where is Kate? - The boy asked.
- She sleeps. With it, everything will be fine. You saved her.
- And when I die?
- Well ... a very long time when you're quite old.
At first, I somehow did not understand his last question, but then it hit me. The boy thought he would die after he take blood. So he said goodbye to his parents. He was one hundred percent sure that perish. He really sacrificed his life for his sister. You know what deed he committed? A very real. Many years have passed and I still have goose bumps every time I remember this story ...

Kite with fish

Indian proverb

Once the kite flying in search of food, he noticed the fish instantly went down and grabbed her. Seeing a kite with a fish in its beak, hundreds of crows began to scream, a terrible noise and set off after him. And in whatever direction he or flying crows flew after him. He flew to the south - they pursued him; he turned to the north - they overtook him; he did not find peace anywhere.

Finally, tired of flying, he threw the fish. Then crows rushed for fish and kite alone. Quietly sat on top of a large tree, he thought, "This fish was the cause of my anxiety, now that I no longer have it, I am happy and completely calm."

Western Diet Bad for Human Health, Environment

From VOA Learning English, this is the Health Report.

The spread of Western eating habits around the world is bad for human health and for the environment. Those findings come from a new report in the journal Nature

There are ways to solve this diet-health-environment problem. But they will require a change in eating habits. And what we eat can be a product of culture, personal taste, price and ease.

David Tilman is a professor of ecology at the University of Minnesota. In the study, he examined information from 100 countries to identify what people ate and how diet affected health.

Mr. Tilman noted a movement beginning in the 1960s. He found that as nations industrialized, population increased and earnings rose. More people began to adopt what has been called the Western diet.

The Western diet is high in refined, or processed, sugar, fat, oil and meat. By eating these foods, people began to get fatter -- and sicker.

Too many calories and not enough exercise is not a healthy combination.

“The excess, let us say, in the 15 richest nations of the world, right now is on the order of about 400 or 500 extra calories a day that are eaten beyond what people need, and that leads people to gain weight.”

David Tillman says overweight people are at greater risk for non-infectious diseases like diabetes, heart disease and some cancers

Diabetes is shooting to very high rates in the United States and across Europe. Heart disease is a major cause of mortality in the Western countries. Unfortunately when people become industrialized, if they adopt this Western diet, they are going to have these same health impacts, and in some cases if you are Asian, you have them more severely than even happens in the West.”

China, he says, is an example where the number of diabetes cases has jumped.

“... from less than one percent to 10 percent of the population having diabetes as they began to industrialize over a 20-year period. And that has not leveled off yet. That is still going up. And that is happening all across the world, in Mexico, in Nigeria and so on, just nation after nation.”

A growing generation of Puerto Rican children struggle with weight gain. (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. April 2007)

And, a diet bad for human beings, it seems, is also bad for the environment. As the world’s population grows, experts say more forests and tropical areas will become farmland for crops or grasslands for grazingcattle. These areas will be needed to meet the increasing demand for food

“We are likely to have more greenhouse gas released in the future from agriculture because of this dietary shift than all the greenhouse gas that right now comes out of all the cars, and all of the airplanes, boats and ships, all forms of transportation. So our change in diet is likely to be worse for the world for climate warming than all the transportation sources we use right now.”

Mr. Tilman calls the link between diet, the environment and human health, “a trilemma.” This is a play on the worddilemma” -- a problem offering a difficult choice. He says one possible solution is leaving the Western diet behind.

I’m Anna Matteo.

A court in Boston, Massachusetts is making final preparations for the trial ofsuspected bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. He is accused of terrorism and othercrimes in connection with the deadly

bombing at the Boston Marathon on April15, 2013. His older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was also suspected in theattack. He was killed in an exchange of gunfire with police four days later.

Court officials began questioning possible jurors on Monday. The juryselection process could take several weeks.

The Tsarnaevs are ethnic Chechens. The two brothers had lived with theirfamily near Boston for more than 10 years.

VOA reporters Fatima Tlisova and Mike Eckel investigated the lives

 ofDzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

I’m Caty Weaver. Today, Jonathan Evans and I tell you what the reportersfound.

Some recent history

Both young men were considered loving and peaceful by the people aroundthem. Just weeks before the bombing, Tamerlan Tsarnaev,

his wife anddaughter visited another Chechen family in New Hampshire.

Madina and MusaKhadzhimuradov had fled Chechnya in the early 2000s.

They said that during the visit, Tamerlan seemed to enjoy playing with his

 littlegirl.

Musa Khadzhimuradov told VOA:

“We didn’t talk about war or religion, nothing. He was happy. Maybe he had adouble life or something, but he was playing with his child.”

But legal documents and reports from the Federal Bureau of Investigationsuggest that he was plotting something destructive.

At least twice before April 15, Tamerlan had visited a Manchester firing range,

where people train to shoot guns. On March 20, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev joined hisbrother at the firing range.

Tamerlan had also traveled to the New Hampshire town of Seabrook to buyfireworks and gather gunpowder.

Investigators say he stopped at a storecalled Phantom Fireworks. They say he left with 48 mortars and

almost fourkilograms of low explosive powder.

Store employee April Walton spoke to VOA about Tamerlan’s visit. She saidhe asked her for the loudest, most powerful fireworks they sold.

The Grand Jury indictment says that Tamerlan went online around April 5, and ordered electronic parts that could be used to make bombs. The partsarrived at the Tsarnaev’s apartment home by mail.

Strange behavior noted at local mosque

In recent years, some members of the Tsarnaev family had begun talkingabout their religious beliefs. The leader of the mosque they attended told VOA of two strange incidents during prayer services. Imam Fenni said that inNovember of 2012 Tamerlan Tsarnaev stood up and interrupted a guestspeaker. The speaker was talking about the importance of Muslims in Americaaccepting

public holidays like Thanksgiving. Tamerlan angrily told thegathering that the speaker was wrong.

Imam Fenni said a similar incident took place in January of 2013. He saidTamerlan again angrily interrupted a guest speaker.

In January of 2012, Tamerlan had gone on a six-month-long trip to Russia’sNorth Caucasus area. He spent some of his time in Dagestan. The Russiannewspaper Novaya Gazeta reported that Tamerlan had been in contact withtwo wanted militants during the visit.

Novaya Gazeta reporter Irina Gordienko told VOA, “People in Dagestan toldme he dressed strangely, his behavior was unusual. He wasn’t veryknowledgeable about Islam.”

Back home in the United States, Tamerlan Tsarnaev held short-term jobs andtook a few college classes. He boxed for a while but his career in the sport didnot take off.

A close family friend said “He didn’t seem to know where he was going.”

The FBI questioned Tamerlan in 2011 at the request of Russian securityofficials. They had been watching his reported interactions with Chechenradical groups.

An FBI statement says the Russians reported that Tamerlan “was a followerof radical Islam.”

The youngest Tsarnaev

Friends and family say Dzhokhar Tsarnaev acted differently than his

olderbrother. Dzhokar was seen as intelligent but quiet. Friends say he

seemed tofollow Tamerlan’s lead.

Dzhokhar’s suspected involvement in the Boston Marathon bombing waseven more of a shock. Friends and people who know him say Dzhokharcaused

no concern to neighbors, friends, school, or law enforcement beforeApril 15, 2013.

A family friend said Dzhokhar kept to himself, he was smart. He made hisown choices. He wasn’t the center of attention; he was always off to the side.”

In the months before the bombing, the Tsarnaev home was occupied only byTamerlan, his wife and their daughter. The parents of Tamerlan and Dzhokharwere both living in Russia. Dzohkhar

was attending school at University ofMassachusetts in Dartmouth.

A few signs of trouble

Investigators say there were suggestions that Dzhokhar was exploring

violentacts when he was a student at the University of Massachusetts. In the springof 2013, he reportedly downloaded to his computer several books anddocuments

Insects, too, so can

modern parable

A missionary somewhere in the tropics tried to impress the parishioners, inviting some of them on board a light aircraft for air walks. The plane flew over their villages, hills, forests and rivers. From time to time the passengers looked out the windows, but most seemed to flight did not cause them any emotion.

On the airfield people left the plane in silence, without saying a word about their experiences. Aspiring anything to hear from them, the missionary said:

- How it was great! Just think what has made mankind! We are up high in the sky above the houses, trees, mountains, and looking at them from above!

But he listened impassively. Finally somebody said:

- Insects, too, so they can! And, moreover, they are happy! After a few thousand years, we have made such progress that carefully closed at night the doors and windows, while less advanced sleep in creating wide open huts

YOUR GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR – A GUIDED VISUALIZATION

I want you to sit up straight in your chair. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath, and relax. I’m going to speak to you, and I want you to just listen and imagine. Do not sleep. Just relax and imagine.

Right now I want you to think about your life. Think about your family. See your family. Think about your friends. In your mind, see your friends. And think about your job. See yourself working. And when you see all these things in your mind about your current life, how does it make you feel? Take a moment to imagine.

Now think about a goal you want to accomplish in the next year of your life. It could be a relationship goal, an educational goal, a personal goal, or a work-related goal. Think about why this goal is important to you. How will achieving this goal add value to your life? Think about it and see your goal in your mind’s eye.

Now I want you to imagine yourself going forward into the future: one week, two weeks, three weeks. Go forward into the future. It is now one month in the future. You have started on the road to success. What decisions have you made? What actions have you taken? And how does it feel to be on the road to success?

Now I want you to continue going forward. It is now 6 months in the future. You are much closer to your goal. You are starting to feel the benefits of all of your efforts. How does it feel to be closer to your goal? What emotions do you feel as you move closer toward your goal. Imagine.

Now I want you to continue going forward. It is now one year in the future. You have fully accomplished your goal. You have achieved success. See yourself. What do you look like? What are you doing? Who are you with? What are people saying to you? And what are you saying to them. How does success feel?

Now I want you to look back on your success. Look back on the process of achieving success. Look back on all of your hard work and effort. How did you reach your goal, step-by-step. What were the little things you did, day-by-day, to achieve success? What did you do at work? What did you do in your relationships? And what did you do inwardly to achieve success? Take a moment to think of all the steps you took to accomplish your goal.

And when you are ready, take a deep breath. Relax. Smile. And open your eyes.

Russia to hire more foreign troops in forces shake-up

By Laurence PeterBBC News

Russian troops in Georgia - file picThousands of Russian troops are still deployed beyond Russia's borders
Russia is opening up its armed forces to foreign career soldiers, though Russian experts say the move is not linked to the conflict in Ukraine.

President Vladimir Putin issued a decree enabling foreigners to serve for at least five years in the Russian military - provided they speak Russian.

More recruits from ex-Soviet Central Asian republics are expected.

Foreign volunteers, including Russians, have been fighting in Ukraine. Russia denies sending regular troops there.

The Ukrainian government and the West say Russia has sent heavy weapons and well-trained troops to help the separatists in eastern Ukraine.

Mr Putin's decree on foreign soldiers is part of moves to professionalise the Russian armed forces, BBC defence analyst Jonathan Marcus says. But it does have diplomatic implications for Russia's relations with ex-Soviet republics, he adds.

Russian military experts Pavel Felgenhauer and Alexander Golts both told the BBC that the new decree would legalise a situation that had already existed for several years in areas where Russian troops were deployed beyond Russia's borders.

It would make it easier for Russian forces to recruit locals in parts of Central Asia, the Caucasus and in Trans-Dniester, the pro-Russian breakaway territory in Moldova, they said.

Central Asia strategy

"Previously they were required to get Russian citizenship, or a paper granting them Russian citizenship rights, but now they can serve legally without Russian citizenship," Mr Felgenhauer said.

According to Mr Golts, there are already about 300 foreigners in the Russian forces.

Mr Felgenhauer noted that thousands of Tajiks had served under Russian officers during unrest in Tajikistan in the 1990s.

In the Caucasus, Russia still operates a military base in Armenia and has troops in two breakaway parts of Georgia - Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

"Sending Russian contract soldiers to Central Asia is expensive and many stay there. So taking locals is very practical," Mr Felgenhauer said.

"The possible threats are growing in Central Asia as Nato winds down in Afghanistan. So there will be a possible expansion of Russia's military presence in Central Asia - Russian officers with local soldiers. But that does not mean mass recruitment of foreigners."

Mr Golts said Russia was not talking about creating a French-style "foreign legion". France has long used elite foreign troops to quell unrest in its former colonies in Africa, and in other hotspots.

For some the typical monthly wage of 30,000 roubles (£329; $500) would be an incentive to join the Russian army, in tough economic times, as would the prospect of getting Russian citizenship, Mr Golts added.

The 114th Congress began meeting for the first time onMonday as President Barack Obama returned from his vacation in Hawaii.

The Republican Party now controls the United States Congress. Voterselected enough Republican candidates to give that party majorities in theHouse and Senate in elections last November. Political observers say the nexttwo years will be difficult for both President Obama, a Democrat, and hispolitical opponents.

Mr. Obama will have to defend his current policies from change. Republicansmust show that they can work with the president on issues that are importantto all Americans and to Republican voters.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told CNN Sunday that a governmentdivided between a Republican Congress and a Democratic president can stillwork. He said voters want the government to make progress on importantissues.

Republicans oppose the president on health care, immigration andCuba

However, many Republican lawmakers want to weaken some of theprograms approved earlier in Mr. Obama’s presidency. They include theAffordable Care Act, which many call Obamacare. It requires most Americansto buy health insurance.

Many legislators also want to end the president’s new immigration policy. Thepolicy lets many people who entered the country illegally stay and possiblyseek U.S. citizenship. Republicans are also critical of the president’s recentdecision to open diplomatic relations with Cuba. For more than 50 years, theUnited States had sought to isolate the communist nation. Many Republicansdo not believe that policy should have changed.

Policy towards Ukraine, Islamic State and Iran also in dispute

Republican lawmakers are often quick to criticize Mr. Obama on his foreignpolicy. Senator Bob Corker will become the new chairman of the SenateForeign Relations Committee. He had this to say:

“I have no earthly idea how the administration plans to go about degrading anddestroying ISIS in Syria.”

Senator John McCain has also been critical of how Obama has dealt with theconflict in Ukraine. He said:

“This president (Obama) does not understand Vladimir Putin. He does notunderstand his ambitions, he does not understand that Vladimir Putin is an oldKGB colonel bent on restoration of the Russian Empire.”

International negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program are to restart in a week.Senator Corker and other Republicans have said lawmakers may supportstronger restrictions on Iran if the negotiations fail.

President Obama threatens vetoes

To his critics, President Obama has said he will use his veto power ifCongress tries to change his policies.

Other members of Congress have already looked ahead to the next election.Chuck Schumer is a Democratic Senator from New York. He had this to sayon CNN’s State of the Union program:

If we put together a strong economic message aimed at the middle class, notonly will it unify our party, but we can actually do really well in 2016.”

From VOA Learning English, this is the Health Report.

Can eating a chocolate bar every day really preventage-related memory loss?

No.

Can eating chocolate cake for breakfast, lunch anddinner be good for your heart?

Again, the answer is no.

That would be too good to be true.

But new research shows that large amounts offlavanols, substances found in cocoa, tea and somevegetables, may reverse age-related memory failure.Another study is looking to see if high levels of cocoaflavanols can help prevent heart attacks and strokes.

For those who have never seen inside a cocao seed ... this one's for you!For those who have never seen inside a cocao seed ... this one's for you!

Flavanols found in dark chocolate are known toincrease blood flow in the part of the brain that controlsmemory. They also help prevent heart disease bylowering blood pressure and “bad cholesterol.

A new study published online in Nature Neurosciencefound that cocoa flavanols reverse minor memory lossin older adults. A company that makes chocolatehelped to pay for the study.

Can chocolate improve memory?

Brain processes decrease as we age. By the time wereach our 50s and 60s we may have troubleremembering simple things such as the names of newpeople we meet or where we put our car keys.

Dr. Scott Small, Director of the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at Columbia UniversityDr. Scott Small, Director of the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at Columbia University

Dr. Scott Small is a professor of neurology atColumbia University in New York City. He is the leadwriter of a research paper describing the effects ofcocoa flavanols on brain activity.

The study involved 37 volunteers aged between 50 and 69. Researchers gave them a high-level flavanol drinkmade from cocoa beans or a low-level flavanol drink. For a period of three months, some subjects got 900milligrams of flavanol a day. The others got 10milligrams of flavanol each day.

Brain imaging and memory tests were given to eachstudy subject before and after the study. Dr. Small saysthat the subjects who had the high-level flavanol drinkshowed much improvement on memory tests.

Four-year study to dig deeper into healing powersof flavanol

The researchers warn that more work is neededbecause this study was performed on a small group.Researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital inBoston, Massachusetts recently announced plans to dojust that.

Dr. JoAnn Manson, Professor in the Department of Epidemiology, Harvard School of Public HealthDr. JoAnn Manson, Professor in the Department of Epidemiology, Harvard School of Public Health

Dr. JoAnn Manson is the lead researcher of a four-yearstudy involving 18,000 adults. This study will useflavanol capsules.

“This capsule of cocoa flavanols will avoid having thecalories and the sugar and the saturated fat found inchocolate.”

The study subjects will be divided into two groups and will take two pills a day. The capsules will all look thesame. But, one group’s capsules will contain flavanols. The other group will take capsules made of an inactivesubstance, or placebo.

Dr. Manson says that a person would have to eat tentimes a normal amount to get the flavanols in just oneflavanol pill.

“The amount of chocolate that it would take in order tohave this amount of cocoa flavanols would be more than ten times the amountthat people would ordinarily eat.”

But Dr. Small says people should not necessarily start eating more chocolate. He says a person would have to eat a huge amount of chocolate to get thelevel of flavanol given to the test subjects. He also says many manufacturersremove the flavanols from their chocolate products.

Two heads are better than one ... especially when they are made of chocolate! These sculptures were part of the 2014 Brussels Chocolate Festival, not the study. But they are very cool!

Dr. Small says a cocoa-based flavanol extract may be developed in thefuture. He says that more studies are needed to see how much flavanol isgood for human health.

In What Aisle is the Polish Sausage in?

Everyone seems to be in such a hurry to scream 'prejudice' these days................

A customer asked, "In what aisle can I find the Polish sausage?"

The clerk asks, "Are you Polish?"

The guy , clearly offended, says, "Yes I am. But let me ask you something.

If I had asked for Italian sausage, would you ask me if I was Italian?

Or if I had asked for German Bratwurst, would you ask me if I was German?

Or if I asked for a kosher hot dog would you ask me if I was Jewish?

Or if I had asked for a Taco, would you ask if I was Mexican?

Or if I asked for some Irish whiskey, would you ask if I was Irish?"

The clerk says, "No, I probably wouldn't."

The guy says, "Well then, because I asked for Polish sausage, why did you ask me if I'm Polish?"

The clerk replied, "Because you're in Home Depot."

A target in Mali

Soldiers are taught to be killers - it's part of their job - and their training includes firing at an image of the enemy. German photographer Herlinde Koelbl has made a study of these targets and spoken to many soldiers, but a century after the start of World War One, she still hopes for a world without conflict.

BBC News.Magazine.Elephants recognise human voices

Elephants recognise human voices

Victoria GillBy Victoria GillScience reporter, BBC News

Nature's giants

Prof Karen McComb and Dr Graeme Shannon from the University of Sussex, who led the study, explained that in previous research they had used similar playback experiments to reveal that elephants could tell - from the sound of a lion's roar - whether the animal was a female or a more dangerous male.

Other studies have shown that elephants respond with fear to the scent and even to the red colour of the Masai clothing.

"I've experienced that," explained Prof McComb.

"If you give a Masai man a lift in your car, you can see the elephants behave in a different way around you.

"They're much more wary of the car and you see a lot of smelling and listening."

Prof McComb wanted to find out if the animals used their very acute sense of hearing to identify a potential threat from humans.

The scientists recorded Masai men, women and children saying, in their own language, "look, look over there, a group of elephants is coming".

They also recorded Kamba men saying this phrase.

While cattle-herding Maasai people often encounter free-ranging elephants, which can result in violent conflict, the Kamba people's more agricultural lifestyle does not generally bring them into aggressive contact with the animals.

When the team played recordings of these different voices through a camouflaged loudspeaker, they found that elephant family groups reacted more fearfully in response to the voice of a Masai man, than to a Kamba man's voice - retreating and bunching together defensively.

And the adult male Masai voices triggered far more of these defensive reactions than the voices of women or boys.

Hidden sounds

An additional and unexpected finding was that when the researchers changed the pitch and frequency of the voices - making a male Masai voice sound more female - the elephants would still react in the same way as they did to the original recording.

African elephant (Image: Karen McComb)The matriarch in a family of elephants acts as an anchor - keeping her group together in the face of danger

"That suggests they're using completely different cues [to us] in order to attribute gender," said Prof McComb.

Frans van der Waal from the Yerkes National Primate Research Center at Emory University, a researcher and the author of several books on animal behaviour, wrote in an accompanying article in PNAS that this finding suggested we had "much to learn about how elephants make decisions".

In this brief clip, Professor Richard Byrne describes how elephants respond to human pointing

He added in an interview with BBC News: "Making these kinds of fine distinctions in human voice patterns is quite remarkable."

Prof McComb said the research showed that elephants were "trying to adapt" to human threats.

"Humans are undoubtedly the most dangerous and versatile predators the elephants are faced with these days," she said.

Prof de Waal added: "The more we understand about how elephants navigate their physical and social worlds, and how their behaviour continues to adapt to ever-changing threats, the better able we will be to effectively work to protect them in the wild."

December 28, 2014 | Filed under: How to Lose Weight and tagged with: diet, health, overweight, how to get rid of belly how to get rid of fat, get rid of stress, how to lose weight, how to eat, eat at night, weight loss methods, music sport
It's no secret that the holidays are traditionally a lot of drink and eat. And on New Year's, as they say - God himself commanded. But the health of one thing. Read how to behave at the table in the New Year's Eve to the morning one was hurt, hurt, etc. Tips are simple, but the workers.

It is believed that both meet the new year, so then a year to live and be. If a person is in the New Year's Eve overeaten, drunk, in the morning shirt beat out from under the belt fastens not - what to expect from the coming year?

All works on walking in the gym, kilometers, wound on a treadmill - all crossed one big party. Women are ready to make any sacrifice to get into the festive dress in the morning will be bursting at the seams with the amount of food eaten.

What can we do to not be ashamed of aimlessly acquired extra kilos? Here are 10 tips on how not to overeat in the New Year's Eve.

The first rule of the New Year festivities - it's fun and a good mood. Sing, dance, and snack in between times. Communicate with visitors, often participate in competitions. Positive emotions - the best friends in the fight against calories.
Use every opportunity to break out into the fresh air. Suggest to friends sculpt a snowman, play snowballs, launch fireworks. Frosty January air and run in heavy winter clothes will help you not only burn calories, but also to keep vivacity New Year's Eve.
New Year's feast menu includes dishes much more than you can chew company. So do not cook enough to feed the company. On the table should be as much food as you can eat you and your guests. Remember that mayonnaise salads, such as everybody's favorite Olivier, should not be stored for more than 24 hours. And even more impossible one basin Olivier feed all the New Year holidays.
Try to surprise your guests with new recipes, do not be afraid to depart from tradition, invent new ones. Each year to create different menu New Year's table. For example, the classic Russian salad can be replaced by a light salad of chicken and tomatoes, and boring herring under a fur coat - herring salad with apples.
New Year's Eve is focusing on vegetable dishes and try to replace mayonnaise dressing on the lighter, as mayonnaise - the main enemy of a healthy stomach. It can replace traditional dressing for the Greek salad: olive oil, lemon juice, black pepper, oregano and salt.
Fruits are not only useful, but tasty, do not leave them unattended in the New Year's Eve. By the way, the most "Christmas" are considered to be the mandarins. Tangerines - an integral part of every New Year's table. They not only symbolize the holiday, but also due to vitamin C - add positive and good mood.
Eat small meals and do musical pauses. Remember to feel satiety should take about half an hour after a meal. Do not want to dance or music inappropriate - communicate or just treat guests. Who is to come, who makeup smeared. This will help you to escape from vkusnyashek and give your stomach time to understand - is saturated or not.
It is clear that on 31 December each person full of trouble and all the things just do not have time, but do not forget to eat during the day, otherwise the fight chimes you risk awaken a beast who will devour food in a frenzy. Do not worry if you eat a few spoonfuls of salad or a few slices of sausage before the feast, the products will still be enough for everyone.
You can even cancel a gala dinner on New Year's night, and transfer it, for example, on the evening of the first of January or to arrange a family dinner on the eve of the New Year, and a chiming clock confine champagne and fruit.
Bit - drink
Do not drink on New Year's night - this is the same nonsense as to go to Paris and see the Eiffel Tower. But remember that it is necessary to drink in moderation and drink to choose wisely. It is best to cope with calories dry red wine - it contains enzymes that help break down food to the stomach. If you closer drinks stronger, do based on their cocktails with natural juice. For example, a cocktail with whiskey and apple juice will be very relevant in the Christmas meal, as whiskey, according to experts, the only drink that does not cause hangovers, and apple juice is rich in vitamins and acids, so necessary for us that night.
Finally, since you did not listen to the previous tips and still have overeaten, it is by no means to start torturing yourself strict diet the next day. Return to the form gradually. Control your weight and record what you ate for the day. And move, move, move. Has a spare minute - go for a walk.

http://zdorovie.com/

I would also add that in America after the New Year fitness centers are overcrowded. There are also people who, just, overeaten New Year and also those who have decided to start a new life in the New Year.

All necessary measure and gradually - do not forget about it. Although I support those who from time to time to start a new life. Invigorates, you know!

Little left already. Happy New Year! :)

Secrets of a long life: 25 simple and surprising tips to help you live to 100

Here are some simple and often surprising tricks that research shows can extend your life..

1 Switch your latte for a cuppa

Tea is packed with antioxidants called polyphenols that can help your body fight heart disease, cancer and premature ageing.

One Israeli study found that moderate tea drinkers lived substantially longer than those who don’t have a regular cuppa.

But remember to give it a good stir before removing the tea bag, as research shows this releases 15% more of the age-resisting ingredients.

2 Balance on one leg every morning

It may sound strange, but standing on alternative legs while you dress in the morning forces your body to balance, strengthening your ‘core’ (back, pelvic and stomach) muscles which support your spine.

According to physiotherapist Tom Salzman: “This simple daily act will offer significant long-term benefits when it comes to staying active for longer and protecting against falls and broken bones as you get older.”

3 Have regular sex at least twice a week

A large Welsh study on longevity found that those who had sex less than once a month had double the risk of dying prematurely than those who had sex twice a week.

Aside from the health benefits, couples with a healthy sex life can also look up to seven years younger, according to a study by the Royal Edinburgh Hospital – possibly because sex reduces stress, leading to greater contentment and better sleep.

4 Eat three walnuts a day

Walnuts are the healthiest nut of all because they contain the most disease-fighting and anti-ageing antioxidants, according to recent search from the University of Scranton, US.

Eating just three walnuts a day is enough to reap the full benefits.

5 Use less sunscreen but don’t burn

Figures show that 50% of people in the UK are deficient in vitamin D, the nutrient made by the action of sunlight on our skin, increasing our risk of a host of potentially fatal conditions including heart disease, osteoporosis and cancer.

To boost your vitamin D levels without raising your risk of skin cancer, Cancer Research UK now recommends getting a few minutes (in practice around 15 to 20) of sun around the middle of the day without sunscreen.

But make sure you don’t burn, or you’ll wipe out any health benefits.

6 Make six good mates you can always rely on

Developing close friendships and family ties is the secret of living to 100, according to a recent Australian study of centenarians.

Friends provide emotional support, which helps us deal with stress, and feeling loved boosts production of feel-good chemicals dopamine and oxytocin, which promote brain growth, combating ageing.

Other research has pinpointed six as the optimum number of friends we each need.

7 Stop eating when you’re 80% full

The Okinawans, who inhabit remote Japanese islands, have one of the world’s lowest rates of obesity, as well as the highest percentage of people living beyond 100.

Their secret? At every meal, they stop eating when they feel about 80% satisfied, happily leaving any excess food on their plate.

American researchers have also found animals can live up to twice as long when their food intake is reduced by up to a third.

As well as helping them to maintain a healthier weight, it’s thought eating less means the metabolism has less work to do, putting less long-term stress on the body.

8 Go to bed one hour earlier if you can

Lack of sleep can put you at greater risk of health conditions such as depression and heart disease, according to a raft of recent research.

And yet a small change makes a big difference – a study from Harvard Business School in the US found that for people who normally slept for seven hours or less a night,  going to bed just one hour earlier led to a significant drop in blood pressure – therefore lowering their risk of heart attacks and strokes.

9 Make sure you floss every night

“Gum disease is the most widespread condition on the planet,” says dentist Dr James Russell.

“So I say sarcastically – floss the teeth you want to keep!”

And it’s not just your teeth that will thank you – in the past 10 years, studies have linked gum disease to an increased risk of other conditions, including heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers.

10 Be a details person

Research by US psychologist Dr Howard Friedman has found that the best predictor of longevity is how conscientious a person is.

That’s right – people who are careful with money, thoughtful, detail-focused and like to put everything back in its rightful place tend to live longer!

It’s thought that conscientious people may produce more of the feel-good brain chemical serotonin, which stops them comfort-eating and improves their sleep.

They also appear to be drawn towards healthier choices and can live less risky lifestyles.

11 Buy yourself a pet, and preferably a dog

People who own a pet are less stressed, less depressed and can live longer than those who don’t, according to research.

The calming effect of owning an animal can even drop blood pressure and reduce your risk of a heart attack, according to University of Minnesota researchers in the US.

Another study found owners who walk their dogs daily lived an average of seven years longer than otherwise similar non-dog owners.

12 Don’t put fruit in the fridge

You might think you’re making it last longer, but studies show that chilled fruit contains fewer health-boosting nutrients than fruit, which has been kept at room temperature.

For example, tomatoes and peppers stored in a bowl rather than the fridge can contain double the betacarotene and up to 20 times more lycopene.

Which is good news, as high intakes of both these antioxidants have been linked to better heart health and lower rates of certain cancers.

13 Be helpful and lend a hand to others

Helping others not only feels good – it could reap big health rewards too.

A long-term US study found that people who volunteered regularly over a lifetime lived significantly longer than those who didn’t.

Volunteers also experienced less depression, fewer pains and better general health.

14 Sing a tune in the shower

Singing regularly could be a better health insurance policy than taking vitamins, according to the findings of a joint Harvard and Yale University study from the US.

They found that being a choir member increased life expectancy, and concluded this was because a good old singsong slashed stress, promoted a healthy heart and helped ward off depression.

15 Eat twice as much fruit and veg

A recent report in the European Heart Journal found that people who eat eight or more portions of fruit and vegetables a day have nearly a quarter less chance of dying from heart disease than someone who eats only three – the national average.

This is because every single portion is packed with vital vitamins and antioxidants, which boost the immune system and fight the damage that leads to premature ageing.

16 Try to stop moaning so much!

Optimists live 12 years longer than pessimists, according to American researchers at the US Mayo Clinic. Pessimists are also more prone to viral illnesses and are less likely to carry out essential self-examinations that detect breast or skin cancer.

17 Drink plenty of apple juice

Apple juice could help keep your brain young, according to a recent study in the Journal Of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Researchers found just two glasses a day reduced the formation of the sticky plaques found in the brains of dementia patients.

18 Draw your family tree and learn your history

Finding out your family health history could help predict your own health future, as many conditions have a genetic link.

Alina Semukha (USA) Brains of older people are slow because they know so much.

: The explanation:

Brains of older people are slow because they know so much.

People do not decline mentally with age; it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains, scientists believe. Much like a computer struggles as the hard drive gets full up, so too do humans take longer to access information, it has been suggested.

Researchers say this slowing down it is not the same as cognitive decline.

The human brain works slower in old age, said Dr. Michael Ramscar , but only because we have stored more information over time, the brains of older people do not get weak. On the contrary, they simply know more.

Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for. It is NOT a memory problem; it is nature's way of making older people do more exercise.

I have more friends I should send this too, but right know I can't remember their names.

So please forward it to your friends, they may be my friends too.

‘YOU CAN’T TEACH AN OLD DOG NEW TRICKS’ IDIOM PROVEN WRONG

Are you ever too old to learn? Some people think so. But Kimani Maruge disagrees.

Kimani was an 84-year-old when he first entered elementary school. You see, in Kenya where Kimani lived, elementary school wasn’t universal. Children and their parents had to pay school fees. And these fees, while they might seem modest to a lot of us today, made school too expensive for a lot of families in Kenya, including the Maruges.

So when the Kenyan government introduced universal elementary education in 2003, Kimani sprang into action. He sold his goats, bought a school uniform, and joined the first grade. And at the incredible age of 84, he became the oldest person to ever have enrolled in an elementary school.

He simply wanted to learn to read.

People were outraged that Kimani, an old man, was allowed to enter elementary school. They felt he was taking a spot that a child should have. They threw rocks and threatened him as he walked to school in the morning. But Kimani never let that stop him. He was determinedto keep on learning.

Kimani led a fascinating life. When he was young, he belonged to a group of Kenyan freedom fighters, battling for their country’s independence. The right to education was one of the things he fought for. And in 2005, he spoke at the United Nations about the importance of free primary schooling, and of giving poor people the opportunity of education.

Even when he was diagnosed with cancer, he was dedicated to continuing his education.

He brought in teachers to work with him at home right up until his death a few months later. Before he died, he stated, “even if you don’t see it through to the end, you will still have achieved something.”

Kimani didn’t start his education as an octogenarian to get a better job or make more money. For him, the journey of learning more about how the world worked was the true reward.

Kimani was an inspirational person, who truly exemplified the saying ‘it’s never too late’. Some people think they are too old to go back to school or to learn a new language. But people like Kimani Maruge show us that you can achieve anything if you are willing to work hard and keep fighting.

Happy New Year!

Now, VOA Special English presents a special programfor New Year’s Eve.

That is a song millions of Americans will hear this NewYear’s Eve. It is called Auld Lang Syne.” It is thetraditional music played during the New Year’scelebration. Auld Lang Syne is an old Scottish poem. Ittells about the need to remember old friends.

The words auld lang syne mean old long since.” Noone knows who wrote the poem first. However, a version by Scottish poetRobert Burns was published in 1796. The words and music we know todayfirst appeared in a songbook three years later.

The song is sung in the United States mainly on New Year’s Eve.

Here is Lou Rawls singing his version of it…

Another version is by the Washington Saxophone Quartet.

As we end our program with Auld Lang Syne,” I would like to wish all of ourradio friends a very Happy New Year.

HOW TO WORK OUT LESS AND STILL LOOK YOUNGER!

Last Updated: November 26, 2013 1:39 pm

fit manSteve Holman, author and creator of the F4X Workout Plan and the book, Old School, New Body, was the editor-in-chief of the Iron Man Magazine, a leader in the fitness magazines for many years now. He has met and worked with the most professional of gym and fitness trainers, and along with his wife, Becky, developed a work out plan that is healthy, time saving, and can make youlook a decade younger than you are. It is specifically targeted for individuals aged 35 and up (but is recommended for any age), and is guaranteed to show a difference in just a matter of days!

The book is compiled of information that has appeared in Iron Man over the last several years, and of knowledge gained from working with professional fitness trainers that have trained the best of the best, like Clint Eastwood, Carl Weathers (Apollo Creed from the Rocky movies) and Suzanne Summers. The book includes workouts, a nutrition plan, and action steps to take in order to start the process. This is an intense but time-saving and healthy way to slow down the aging process, build and shape muscle, and become healthier.

This workout program is built similarly for men and women. Steve and his wife Becky swear that men and women can, and should, work out in the same way. No need to work out separately or do different exercises.

There are 5 common mistakes to avoid if you want to slow down the aging process and achieve your dream body:

1. Stop The Diets! Stop eating those low-fat foods that keep being advertised as “healthy” for you. Your body needs fat in order to run correctly! If you’re constantly counting all those calories and eating only low fat, you cannot enjoy eating out! Worrying yourself to death will definitely not make you look younger…

2. Quit your crazy long cardio workouts! – Cardiovascular conditioning can be achieved in far less time and with less effort than those long gym classes and hours on the treadmill. In fact, running on the treadmill and other long bouts of cardio work outs can actually accelerate the aging process by increasing free radicals in your body and there are far smarter ways to exercise.

3. Stop blaming everything on your age! Studies have shown that even people in their 90s have been able to gain muscle tone in less than a month with some lifting exercises. People can change their bodies at any age, from 25 to 95! You should constantly challenge yourself because it’s the challenge and the constant work towards improvement that keeps you young! And what better challenge is there than staying fit and healthy?

FACT:
YOUR BODY CAN BE THE SAME AS IT WAS WHEN YOU WERE 30 YEARS OLD!

THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR NOT DOING EXERCISE !
THERE IS NO “RIGHT AGE” FOR DOING EXERCISE !

You CAN feel young again.

Don’t believe the Gooroo?

4. Drink More Water! Water not only hydrates you and keeps you healthy-it also helps to burns fat! Water suppresses hunger and keeps your liver and kidneys healthy. Just drinking a dozen ounces a day will drop years from your face by keeping your skin hydrated and healthy!

5. Work out LESS! Steve and Becky are not saying to stop working out. They are just saying that you should go by the old-school resistance training instead of the hours upon hours of cardio classes like spinning and kickboxing. This resistance-training program includes just four specific exercises that will have you done with your workout while others at the gym are just warming up!

With an exact exercise plan that allows you to gain control of what you want to change and improve, you can get the body of your dreams and look much younger, not to mention feel healthier, with the “Old School, New Body” program.

The motto of this program, and of these two authors, is “Make it Simple, Yet Make It Challenging”. They have seen all of those crazy fads, diets, and workout plans you can find in magazines like Cosmopolitan for women and GQ for men. The time has come to forget all of those confusing, messy, and at times conflicting messages and go for this straightforward, tested and true method that professionals have been using for years!

Steve and Becky are testimony to their own workout plan, but if you try it and do not see a significant change, there is a money back guarantee. So really, what have you got to lose?

Do not miss his target sight

modern parable

Looking forward, the woman did not see anything but a dense wall of fog. The whole body was numb from her. She swam for nearly sixteen hours.
It has already become the first woman to swim the English Channel and back. Now, at the age of thirty-four years, it has set itself the goal of becoming the first woman to swim from Catalina Island to the California coast.
That morning, July 4, 1952 was the sea ice, and fog so thick that she could barely support boats. To the woman constantly directed shark that deters gunshots. Struggling with severe hugs the ocean, hour after hour she swam ahead - on national television watching her millions.
In one of the boats sailed her mother and her coach, encouraged her. They said that there are very few. But she saw only fog. They urged her not to give up. And she'd never give up ... until now. She was only half a mile when she asked to get her.
A few hours later, still trying to warm his body promёrzshee, she told reporters: "You see, I'm not trying to justify myself, but if I could see land, I would have coped." She won not fatigue or even cold water. She won the fog. She did not see the goal.
Two months later, she made another attempt. At this time, despite the same dense fog, she swam without losing faith and mentally clear about its purpose. She knew that somewhere out there, the mist lying land, and this time she swam! She became the first woman to swim to Catalina for two hours faster than the record-man!

Yes, peace will reign

modern parable

A wise old gentleman retired and bought a modest house near the high school. The first few weeks of his well-deserved rest he spent in quiet and contentment ... until the school year began. The next day, three boys, full of strength and energy, tearing out after school, walked down the street and beat all the garbage containers that lined the street. This metal music continues day after day, until a wise old man decided it was time to act.
Once he went out to meet the young striker and stopping them, he said:
- Children, you are glorious. I like it when you're so express your joy of life. At your age, I do not do that. You do not do me a favor? I'll give each of you a dollar if you promise me to come here every day and knock.
Children were delighted and kept banging on trash. A few days later the old man came back to the children, but this time with a sad smile.
- The recession struck in my pocket. Now I can only pay you fifty cents.
Young producers noise did not like it, but they agreed with it and continued their daily invasion.
In a few more days crafty retired again came to the drum on the tanks boys.
- Look, I have not got my social security check, so I can give you all the twenty-five cents. It'S Nothing?
- Pathetic quarter? - Said the leader of the troublemakers. - If you think that we agree to lose our time, knocking here for a quarter, you're crazy! It will not work, mister. We're leaving!
And the old man to the end of their days enjoying the peace and quiet.

7 Effective Tips on How to Avoid Conflicts

Tips on How to Avoid Conflicts

Nowadays it is necessary to be reasonable and flexible enough to avoid conflicts as much as possible and live in peace with others. As Dorothy Thompson once said, “Peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of creative alternatives for responding to conflict – alternatives to passive or aggressive responses, alternatives to violence.” Arguing can either break your relationship or help you get to know your partner better. The best way to avoid conflict is to expect and embrace it. You should be aware of all possible risks, because conflict is a source of stress that can be harmful to your health. However, if you have done all your best to avoid conflict and you are still arguing, then read on to find out a few effective tips on how to avoid conflicts.

1. Don’t get in the epicenter of the conflict

Sometimes people can get in the epicenter of conflicts and disputes because they want to help. Frankly speaking, it is very risky, because it can get you in the middle of other people’s problems and make you the main figure of the conflict. Let other people sort out their relationships without your presence. You should focus on your own life issues and try to find ways to solve them in a short period of time.
