Конечно, когда ты долго не выступаешь, то стартовать на соревнованиях гораздо сложнее, так как чувствуется недостаток игровой практики, теряется ритм и чувство игры. Главное — в первом же матче показать хороший теннис и почувствовать уверенность в себе, тогда адаптация пройдёт намного легче.

Я достаточно тяжело перенёс поражение на "Мастерсе" в Шанхае, так как находился в хорошей форме и был готов к успешному выступлению. После этого я понял, что необходимо взять небольшой перерыв и сосредоточиться на тренировках, чтобы восстановиться и прийти в себя как физически, так и психологически. Я думал не только о результатах этого года, а ещё о том, как закончить сезон здоровым и в хорошем настроении, чтобы подойти к межсезонью без травм и с позитивным настроем".

"Хорошо выступить на турнире в Лондоне очень важно ещё и в психологическом плане. Всегда лучше готовиться к новому сезону в хорошем настроении, как у меня это было в прошлом году. Я доволен тем, как тренировался в последнее время, и тем, как работает мой мозг. У меня по-прежнему достаточно мотивации, а в спорте это один из ключевых факторов. В целом я провёл хороший сезон — не блестящий, но ровный и стабильный. Мне удалось трижды сыграть в финалах турниров серии "Большого шлема" и одержать одну победу.  Накануне в Лондоне состоялся гала-вечер, посвящённый стартующему 20 ноября Итоговому турниру, сообщает официальный сайт ATP. Мероприятие посетили восемь ведущих теннисистов мира, которые примут участие в соревнованиях.

Организаторы гала-вечера сумели собрать около 400 000 фунтов, которые будут переданы благотворительной организации Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, помогающей больным детям.

В группу А попали Новак Джокович (Сербия), Энди Маррей (Великобритания), Томаш Бердых (Чехия), Давид Феррер (Испания).

Группу В составили Рафаэль Надаль (Испания), Роджер Федерер (Швейцария), Жо-Уилфрид Тсонга (Франция) и Марди Фиш (США).

Bonjour à tous. Je ne participerai pas au tournoi de Paris Bercy la semaine prochaine. Cette décision a été difficile à prendre mais elle a été nécessaire afin de me permettre de préparer au mieux la fin de cette saison ainsi que celle de 2012. J’espère pouvoir être de retour en 2012 pour ce grand événement dans la plus belle ville du monde, en espérant le gagner un jour.

Hi all. I won't be playing this upcoming week the tournament in Paris Bercy. It's been a difficult decision to take but I understand that it is what I need to do right now to prepare well for the end of this season and also for 2012. I hope I can be back in 2012 to that great event in the most beautiful city in the world, and hopefully try to win it once day.

Ten years ago a kid named Nadal won his first ATP points

Madrid, 14 Sept.2011 (EFE) 

On 17th September 2001, a 15-year-old boy won his first points on the ATP tour by coming out on top in his first round match in the Copa Sevilla Challenger.

This victory ten years ago, 6-4 6-4 over fellow Spaniard Israel Mateos Gil who was then No.751 in the world and almost four years older than Nadal, meant that he entered the ATP ranking list with 5 points.

Although he was defeated 3-6 6-1 6-3 in the second round by the Italian Stefano Galvani, world No.161, the young Nadal's participation in Seville, as a wildcard, put him on the ATP entry ranking list for the first time, at No.1002, as well as earning him 650 dollars.

Galvani went on to win the tournament, where the top seed was Marc Lopez, a friend of Nadal's who now practices and plays doubles with him.

Taking part in the Copa Sevilla in 2001 were some of the other tennis players that have helped consolidate Spanish tennis' present success: David Ferrer, Fernando Verdasco and Feliciano Lopez were all there fighting for those important points that would enable them to take the big step up to the tournaments on the ATP world tour

Nadal won his first points after eight months of battling in the qualifying rounds of the tournaments known as Satellites. He was still only 14 when in January of 2011 he started playing in these semi-professional tournaments that take place all over Spain.

Before the Copa Sevilla, he had played qualifying rounds at eight Satellite level tournaments. His first match in January 2001 was against Tomas Prieto Sorense, four years older than him, whom he defeated 6-1 4-6 6-0. He also received a wildcard into the qualifying draw for his first ATP world tour tournament, in Mallorca, but he lost 6-1 6-4 to the Argentine Sergio Roitman in the first round.

He also played two Futures tournaments, losing in the first round of the main competition in one, against Guillermo Platel-Varas (2-6 7-5 6-2) and in the other, in Alicante, he got through two qualifying rounds before falling one match short of entering the main competition. He was knocked out 6-4 6-2 by Juan Antonio Saiz.

After Seville, Nadal did not have to play those tough qualifying rounds of the satellite tournaments any longer, either because the organizers granted him a wildcard or because of his ranking, which meant he was able to earn more points that year.

He ended 2001 at No.810 with eleven points. That season Lleyton Hewitt headed the ATP ranking followed by Gustavo Kuerten, with Juan Carlos Ferrero, the best placed Spaniard, in fifth place.

Nadal began 2002 playing more satellite level matches without having to go through qualifying, until he got his second big chance to show his worth. He received an invitation from the Mallorca ATP world tour tournament, this time a wildcard into the main draw. Despite coming off a bad patch with four consecutive losses, he once again knew how to seize the opportunity.

Still just 15 years old, he defeated Ramon Delgado of Paraguay, world No. 81 and ten years his senior, 6-4 6-4 in round one. Though he lost to the Belgian Oliver Rochus (6-2 6-2) in his next match, Nadal came away with nine points, which took him to ATP No.788, as well as pocketing 5,850 dollars.

The rest is well known: 10 Grand Slam titles, over 500 matches won, his participation in three of Spain's Davis Cup triumphs, the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing, world number one, the Prince of Asturias Award for Sport and whatever the future may bring...

Рафаэль Надаль принял решение изменить традиционный план подготовки к Уимблдону. В 2012 году он выступит на турнире в Галле, а не в Лондоне.

Турнир Queen’s Club, который стартует сразу после окончания Открытого чемпионата Франции, традиционно собирает в столице Англии немало известных теннисистов. Надаль делал выбор в пользу именно этих соревнований, однако в сезоне-2012 экс-первая ракетка мира отправится в Галле, где в это же время проходит еще один травяной турнир.

«Рафы не будет у нас в следующем году, – заявил директор лондонских соревнований Крис Кермоуд в интервью Daily Mail. – Мы разочарованы, но знаем, как он любит наш турнир, так что надеемся увидеть его здесь в будущем».
