My dearest Elena ! How hard it is to discuss different views in politics ! Because we do not live in same countries, naturally our views are not the same. I must tell you, that my opinion does not come from Canadian or American medias and I have not a politician's mind, either. For example, I do not like our Prime Minister, Harper, going to Ukraine against Poutine, because I do not like him as our Prime Minister in Canada ! I am a woman who hates war and seeing other people suffer from it.
I do not like Poutine to decide to make Russia, as in ancient times, and take over some Ukraine's "pro-Russian" cities. He has enough to rule in his own, very large, country. Why Donesk, Slaviansk pro-Russian people did not, simply move to Russia, across Ukraine border ?
I am glad for you, if you are pleased and appreciate your country - that is what normal people feel : it is a natural feeling, as we were born there, that is only place we have known and have been brought up there. Our minds and thinking developed through years, no matter where people live - when we see our flag, who does not feel emotional ?
I am very, very sorry for Ukraine. I would not want this to happen here in Canada. As I am French, I would not want English Canadians to take over Quebec Province, as Poutine is doing in Ukraine.
I am also very happy to live in Montreal - it does not mean every thing is perfect either; but when I compare myself with people from many other countries, I consider myself privileged : lots of food, clothes stores, activities, movies, parks and mostly PEACE ! Since over 2 years, there is a Commission against corruption in Montreal, with Italian Mafia and in Quebec Government. Televised every day, it shows how population paid much over fees for all Government work and Montreal work, through many years.
But I am allowed to a lovely condo in nice city environment, with nice people all around me. I have nice family, son, cat, few good friends and can walk peacefully in the streets, without any discrimination on how I dressed, sex orientation (gay wedding, gay adopting parents) religion, politic orientation. I can talk openly about each one of these subjects, without being arrested. I am happy and every day, I appreciate how I live - when I think about poor people from Syria, Irak, Ukraine (yes, Elena), young girls in India, Nigeria, Brazil and others - that is how it is easy not to complain.
Thank you for sending me your opinion, which I respect, dear Elena. I understand you, even though, not being Russian or Ukrainian, it is impossible to have same point of view.
In 15 minutes, I will watch Mundial in Brazil, between Russia -vs- South Korea.
All I know from South Korea are . . . . Flash animations ! Since I am 17 years old, I am attracted to Russian language, but never agreed with politics. Do not take it personal, Elena; it is impossible we think the same on that subject, as we live in a complete different world . . . . but I am sure (and I strongly wish), to keep my friendship with you.
