Oh no, not another flower tutorial!
You asked how I made the fabric flower on my glove box, so here you have it.
I love this flower!
This is so easy! Just cut 6 circles of fabric from large to small.
Now don't get too precise, no measuring or tracing needed, just free hand it.
Look close in the picture above, there are 6 circles, 2 are a sheer fabric.
You can use almost any thin silky fabric, I used a dress lining material and sheer fabric just be sure it is a synthetic fabric like polyester, natural silk will not work. Lace will work also.
Here's the step that makes the flower so great Cut slits around the outside of each circle, now don't go getting all precise.
Hold each petal above an open flame.
Do not put the fabric in the flame, it is the heat that curls it. Now, don't go burning the house down! I always do this by the sink. Each petal will curl right up.
Here I have curled two of the petals.
Here I have curled two of the petals.
Here they are all curled. The longer you leave it over the heat the more it will curl. If it is not curling, you have the wrong fabric.
Then layer them up and put a stitch through the whole pile.
At this point you could just leave it
Or glue a vintage jewel on top of the stitch
Maybe stitch a button on, like I did on this glove box
Great For
Head bands
As Lapel pins
Hair clips
Clothes
Gift wrap
Purses
It is honestly so easy!
It will take you all of 10 minutes and looks like some high end embellishment.
Happy Creating!
