CHARLOTTE, NC—The first family has turned more than a few heads at this week’s Democratic National Convention, where the president, as he greets delegates and waves to crowds of supporters, is often accompanied not only by his wife and two daughters, but also his rarely seen 19-year-old son, Luther.
The shy, slightly overweight teenager, who has lived his entire life with his mother in central Illinois, seldom appears in public with the president, with whom he has reportedly shared a somewhat distant and occasionally strained relationship.
“When I saw that kid with President Obama, I had no clue who he was,” said Georgia delegate Kathy Tyson, stating that the teen appeared to have difficulty sustaining eye contact with others and stood uncomfortably alongside his father when he shook hands with voters Thursday. “I guess he does kind of look like the president, though a bit shorter and stockier.”
Luther was born in 1993 to Andrea Pletcher, then a 24-year-old diner cashier whom Obama, a young law professor at the time, met during a brief trip to the state capital of Springfield. While the president’s son is said to have faced numerous obstacles during his childhood, including academic troubles, repeated emotional outbursts, and his mother’s bouts with alcoholism, family friends have stated that overall he was a “good kid” who “genuinely meant well.”
White House aides said the president sends money to Pletcher each month for Luther’s care. After he became a U.S. senator and moved to Washington, Obama reportedly visited his 11-year-old son every other Saturday afternoon, playing wiffle ball with him or taking him out to a movie matinee and then dinner at the local Applebee’s.
When he became president, however, Obama’s contact with the boy reduced markedly, though sources confirmed he would still send Luther a birthday card and speak with him on the phone every month or so, often talking him through his schoolwork or asking about his son’s interests in music and online gaming.
According to reports, the two have often struggled to find common ground, owing largely to their sharply differing levels of motivation and expectations for academic and personal success.
“There was a rough patch during Luther’s early and mid-teens when he and his dad didn’t get along at all,” said Pletcher, speaking from the $600-a-month ground-level condominium she shares with her son and live-in boyfriend. “But Barry came to Luther’s high school graduation last year, and that was a big step forward for them. And now that Luther’s rebellious phase seems to be winding down, there’s definitely a greater respect between them.”
“I’ll tell you, though, Luther was a real handful for a while there, with his ADD and all,” Pletcher continued. “But he’s doing okay now. And I’ve been with [boyfriend] Ian [Williams] for the past three years, so Luther’s had a male figure he can look up to a little bit.”
In a sign of their improving relationship, Obama is said to have congratulated his son heartily upon learning Luther was giving school another shot this fall, enrolling part-time at Lincoln Land Community College. Additionally, Obama expressed optimism that his son could have a “real bright future” in the field of sales or, if he applied himself, computers.
With Luther now slated to join the first family on the campaign trail, staffers confirmed the president has encouraged them to entrust the frequently expressionless teen, who often dresses in all-black clothing, with some minor tasks to help him learn about responsibility.
“We’ve got Luther stuffing envelopes and handing out pins to the delegates, and he’s doing a great job,” senior campaign aide Stephanie Cutter said. “It takes a while for him to come out of his shell, but once he opens up he’s a real nice kid. Plus he’s just so great with Sasha and Malia. They really love their half-brother.”
“Luther may not have his father’s smarts or gift for rhetoric,” Cutter added, “but he tries. And he’s got a good heart—a real good heart.”
Despite comments that interactions between the president and his son have remained noticeably stiff and awkward, Obama said he was excited that he and Luther were spending quality time together and “finally starting to get to know each other.”
“I can’t say I was the perfect father by any means,” said Obama, admitting candidly that he “wasn’t always there for Luther.” “While my son has battled his share of problems, his mother really did the best she could raising him, and I think she did a fine job. Now Luther and I are ready to move forward and make up for lost time.” “I’m real proud of my boy,” he added, putting his arm around his son, who flinched ever so slightly at the physical contact.

Все мы хорошие хозяйки, но и у нас бывает вот такая картина - дно кастрюли в нагаре и не всегда руки доходят избавиться от такой некрасоты
Я делаю это так: в кастрюлю, большую по размерам сыплю соду и заливаю водой. Не знаю кто как, а я 1 столовую ложку соды развожу 2 стаканами воды. Развести надо такое количество, чтобы наша пригоревшая кастрюлька красиво села дном в воду
После того, как вода закипит, держать кастрюлю надо минут 15-20. Затем снимаем, переворачиваем и на горячее, не обсушенное дно сыпем соду и трем
На все оттирание у меня ушло 5 минут и вот итог
Через 30 минут (из которых вы поработали всего минут 5, остальное время кастрюля самостоятельно отмачивалась) у вас чистенькая, блестящая посуда и можно начинать коптить ее по новой)))

באחת הפעמים, בעוד האיש מלקט פעמוניות, הבחינה בו המכשפה, בעלת הגן, האשימה אותו בגניבה ואיימה לחסלו. האיש התחנן לפני המכשפה שתחוס עליו, והיא הסכימה, בתנאי שאם יוולד תינוק לזוג הוא יהיה שלה. בנוסף התירה לאיש לקטוף מהפעמוניות כאוות נפשו.
האיש ידע שאשתו עקרה, והסכים להצעת המכשפה. למרבה הפלא, כעבור שנה נולדה לזוג בת יפהפייה, והם קראו לה "פעמונית" על שם תאוותה של האישה לפרח הממכר. אז נזכר האיש בהסכם עם המכשפה ובלב כבד מסר לה את התינוקת. המכשפה כלאה את פעמונית הקטנה במעלה מגדל נטול דלתות, שהיה בו רק חלון קטן המשקיף על היער. פעמונית גדלה בבדידותה והפכה נערה מקסימה. היא הייתה שרה לעצמה ולחיות היער שבאו לבקרה וקיפצו על אדן החלון. כשהמכשפה רצתה לבקר את הנערה, היא הייתה קוראת "פעמונית פעמונית, השליכי את צמתך"... פעמונית הייתה משלשלת את צמתה הארוכה דרך החלון, והמכשפה הייתה מטפסת בעזרתה למעלה המגדל.
יום אחד נקלע למקום נסיך. הוא ראה את המתרחש ונדהם. אחר כך התעשת וקרא לפעמונית לשלשל את צמתה כדי שגם הוא יוכל לטפס. פעמונית נבהלה למראהו של הנסיך שכן מעולם לא פגשה נפש חיה מלבד המכשפה. מאותו רגע נהג הנסיך לבקר את פעמונית לעתים תכופות, ואף הביע רצון עז לשחררה מכלאה במגדל. כאשר נודע למכשפה על ביקורי הנסיך, היא קיצצה את צמתה הארוכה של פעמונית כדי למנוע מהנסיך גישה אל המגדל.
כשהנסיך קרא לפעמונית, שלשלה המכשפה את צמתה של פעמונית דרך הצוהר, החזיקה בקצה והנסיך החל לעלות. באמצע הדרך, עזבה המכשפה את הצמה והנסיך התרסק על שיח קוצני ששרט את עיניו ועיוור אותן. המכשפה הבריחה את פעמונית אל קרחת היער והנסיך העיוור שוטט ביער וחי מפירות ומצמחים שמצא. יום אחד שמע את שירתה של פעמונית ונמשך בחבלי קסם אליה. כשראתה את אהובה העיוור פרצה פעמונית בבכי, ודמעותיה ריפאו את הנסיך והשיבו לו את מאור עיניו. פעמונית והנסיך המאוהבים נישאו וחיו באושר.

A sprightly tailor was employed by the great Macdonald, in his castle at Saddell, in order to make the laird a pair of trews, used in olden time. And trews being the vest and breeches united in one piece, and ornamented with fringes, were very comfortable, and suitable to be worn in walking or dancing. And Macdonald had said to the tailor, that if he would make the trews by night in the church, he would get a handsome reward. For it was thought that the old ruined church was haunted, and that fearsome things were to be seen there at night.

In the days of King Alfred, there lived a poor woman whose cottage was situated in a remote country village, a great many miles fromLondon. She had been a widow some years, and had an only child named Jack, whom she
indulged to a fault. The consequence of her blind partiality was, that Jack did not pay the least attention to any thing she said, but was indolent, careless, and extravagant. His follies were not owing to a bad disposition, but that his mother had never checked him. By degrees she disposed of all she possessed—scarcely any thing remained but a cow. The poor woman one day met Jack with tears in her eyes; her distress was great, and for the first time in her life she could not help reproaching him, saying, "Oh! you wicked child, by your ungrateful course of life you have at last brought me to beggary and ruin. Cruel, cruel boy! I have notmoneyenough to purchase even a bit of bread for another day—nothing now remains to sell but my poor cow!I am sorryto part with her; it grieves me sadly, but we must not starve." For a few minutes, Jack felt a degree of remorse, but it was soon over, and he began teasing his mother to let him sell the cow at the next village, so much, that she at last consented. As he was going along, he met a butcher, who inquired why he was driving the cow from home? Jack replied, he was going to sell it.The butcherheld some curious beans in his hat; they were of various colours, and attracted Jack's attention. This did not pass unnoticed bythe butcher, who, knowing Jack's easy temper, thought now was the time to take an advantage of it; and determined not to let slip so good an opportunity, asked what was the price of the cow, offering at the same time all the beans in his hat for her. The silly boy could not conceal the pleasure he felt at what he supposed so great an offer, the bargain was struck instantly, and the cow exchanged for a few paltry beans. Jack made the best of his way home, calling aloud to his mother before he reached home, thinking to surprise her.

One day in the middle of winter, when the snowf lakes fell from the sky like feathers, a queen sat at a window netting. Her netting-needle was of black ebony, and as she worked, and the snow glittered, she pricked her finger, and three drops of blood fell into the snow. The red spots looked so beautiful in the white snow that the queen thought to herself: "Oh, if I only had a little child, I should like it to be as fair as snow, as rosy as the red blood, and with hair and eyes as black as ebony."
Very soon after this the queen had a little daughter who was very fair, had rosy cheeks, and hair as black as ebony; and they gave her the name of Snow-white. But at the birth of the little child the queen died.
