A small sterling tete a tete set in the “Aesthetic style” made by The Gorham Company of Providence, Rhode Island, in 1881.


* По статистике, каждый день в Англии выпивается около 165 млн. чашек чая.

* 98 % англичан предпочитают чай с молоком «пустому».

* Чай пьется 6 раз за день в определенное время и определенных сортов.

Early morning cuppa - первая чашечка чая пьется примерно в 6 утра. Это должен быть крепкий бодрящий чай. К нему - традиционная овсянка с маслом и джемом или яичница с беконом.

Lunch - второй завтрак, который завершается чашечкой более ароматного и мягкого чая, нежели утренний.

Tea breaks или Low tea - небольшие, иногда даже ежечасные перерывы, во время которых пьется чай с легкими закусками.

Five-o-clock - тот самый, на который даже начальники не могут наложить вето, иначе их ожидают недовольства в коллективе. Этот чай также сопровождается перекусом, причем часто - подогретым.

High tea - вечерний чай в примерно 21.00-22.00 после семейного ужина.
High tea - это традиционное чаепитие "высокого стиля", непривязанное к определенному времени, в отличие от low tea, который можно приравнять к т.н. coffee break, т.е. просто "чайку попить".

High tea подразумевает церемонное чаепитие непременными атрибутами которого будут являться накрахмаленная скатерть, тонкий фарфор, трехъярусные этажерки с классическими закрытыми треугольными сэндвичами и пирожными, иногда предлагается бокал шампанского. Если вас приглашают на high tea, то подразумевают определенный элегантный стиль одежды.

И непосредственно перед сном англичане могут выпить чашечку фруктового чая или чая без кофеина.

Но уже давно далеко не все британцы смотрят на время, а пьют чай по желанию.
