Csaba Markus |
|
There are many other painters in the world, but the collectors of Csaba Markus will tell you that there is only one whose paintings can create such contrasts within such harmony, one who can express the Eternal Feminine in her many guises, both as mortal woman and as mythological goddess. There is one who does not paint merely to please the eye, but to shake the soul of the viewer. There is only one, and his name is Csaba Markus.
The gradual shaping of Markus’ artistic style and philosophy found its origins in Budapest, Hungary, where the artist was born in 1953. He spent the first half of his life enmeshed in the traditions and Old World ideologies of Europe, and in his search for direction, he discovered and thoroughly embraced the artists of the Renaissance. His mentors became the works of artists such as Michelangelo, Caravaggio, and Botticelli, and his goal echoed their own: to find the perfect way of expressing himself through his art.

Elena Ilku |
|
ELENA ILKU is a native of Ukraine, where she earned a Masters degree in History of Art and Design. She currently lives and works in British Columbia. She started her career as a professional artist in 1985, and since then has been extensively travelling, working and exhibiting her work throughout Europe and North America. She continued her artistic education in France and the United Kingdom, which helped her to develop a unique style of painting.
Elena produces highly original work, in which there is a release of emotion and a strangely captivating balance between abstraction and figuration. The signs and symbols of Slavonic Icon, one of her favourite subjects in early works, continue to evoke the feeling and memories of old times. Elena is a master at depicting familiar surroundings but by way of suggestion. She succeeds in expressing a deeply felt sense of unity and wholeness, balancing colour, form and composition. The consequences of this process are powerful yet elusive.

Danny McBride |
|
DANNY McBRIDE was born in 1951 in Toronto, Ontario, and has spent all of his working years in the arts as a musician, composer, singer and artist.
First as a musician, composer and songwriter, Danny made world tours with the likes of David Hasselhoff, Chris de Burgh and Joe Cocker. His illustrious music career has netted him several gold and platinum records and a profile that still keeps him newsworthy. In 1996 he wrapped up a US and Taiwan concert tour and began to slow his pace.
Danny, now a painter, moved to British Columbia and began a new phase in his life. He is a self-taught artist whose unique figurative style soon emerged. His acrylic images come alive on canvas in textured still-lifes and smoothly finished ladies in hats. His art is always exciting as he creates scenes that are light-hearted and fun. His images are frequently sculptural in form, with layers of paint built up on the canvas, creating a very textured and bold composition.
His paintings have made a large impact with collectors across North America and Europe.
