Just hours after announcing that they had arrested two Nigerian brothers, Abel and Ola Osundairo, on suspicion of assault and battery in the attack on Empire star Jussie Smollett last month, Chicago police have completely reversed course and announced that they released both men without charges.
Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi released a statement saying, "Due to new evidence as a result of today's interrogations, the individuals questioned by police in the Empire case have now been released without charging and detectives have additional investigative work to complete." He also said that the Osundairo brothers are no longer suspects.
