Chicago police have arrested the two men they previously described as "persons of interest" in the attack on Empire actor Jussie Smollett last month. They are being held on suspicion of assault and battery but have not yet been formally charged in court.

Their lawyer has said that their apartment was searched and that they are acquaintances of Smollett and don't know why they are suspects.
