Und warum? Warum, sagen Sie mir bitte?

Old Deuteronomy

, 05 2012 . 11:57 +
- I believe it is Old Deuteronomy

. , - . , Deuteronomy - . , -- - .

Munkustrap:
Old Deuteronomy's lived a long time
He's a cat who has lived many lives in succession
He was famous in proverb and famous in rhyme
A long while before Queen Victoria's accession

Rum Tum Tugger:
Old Deuteronomy's buried nine wives
And more - I am tempted to say ninety-nine
And his numerous progeny prospers and thrives
And the village is proud of him in his decline

Munkustrap:
At the sight of that placid and bland physiognomy
When he sits in the sun on the vicarage wall

Munkustrap, Rum Tum Tugger
The Oldest Inhabitant croaks
Well, of all things, can it be really?
Yes! No! Ho! Hi! Oh, my eye!
My mind may be wandering, but I confess
I believe it is Old Deuteronomy!

All cats:
Well of all things can it be really
Yes! No! Ho! Hi! Oh, my eye!
My mind may be wandering but I confess
I believe it is Old Deuteronomy!

Well of all things can it be really
Yes! No! Ho! Hi! Oh, my eye!
My mind may be wandering but I confess
I believe it is Old Deuteronomy!

Well of all things can it be really
Yes! No! Ho! Hi! Oh, my eye!

Old Deuteronomy:
My legs may be tottery I must go slow
And be careful of Old Deuteronomy.

An Tìm a bh' ann o chian. (Auld Lang Syne )

An còir seann luchd-eòlais dhol à beachd,
'S gun chuimhn' orra bhith ann?
An còir seann luchd-eòlis dhol à beachd,
'S na làithean a bha ann?
Air sgàth an tìm a bh' ann a rùin,
Air sgàth an tìm a bh' ann,
Gun gabh sinn fhathast cupan tlàth
Air sgàth an tìm a bh' ann.

Bha sinne còmhla feadh nam bruach
A tionail neòinean annt',
Ach 's sgìth air seachran ceum ar cas
Bho'n tìm o chian a bh' ann.

Bu tràth is anmoch sinn san allt
Ag iomair 's sinn nar clann,
Ach dhealaich cuantan farsainn sinn
Bho'n tìm o chian a bh' ann.

Mo charaid earbsach gabh mo làmh,
'S sìn fhèin do làmh a-nall,
'S gun gabh sinn, cuach gu crìdheil làn
Air sgàth an tìm a bh'ann.

Gu cinnteach 's leat do bharail fhèin,
'S mo bharail fhèin tha leam-s',
'S gun gabh sinn cupan caoimhneil làn
Air sgàth an tìm a bh' ann.

M. MACRATH, Ottawa.

An còir an cairdeas dhol air dìth,
'S a leigeil as ar cuimhn?
An còir an càirdeas dhol air dìth
Air sgàth nan iomadh linn!

Chorus:
Air sgàth nan iomadh linn, a ghaoil,
Air sgàth nan linn a dh'fhalbh,
Gun gabh sinn cupan coibhneis blasd'
Air sgàth nan iomadh linn!

Is agad-sa biodh cupan làn,
is agam-sa, mi fhìn,
Is òlar cuach an aoibhneis ait
Air sgàth nan iomadh linn.

Nach tric a ruith sinn air na cnuic,
A' buain nan neòinean grinn,
Ach 's iomadh ceum a rinn sinn streap
Bho àm nan iomadh linn.

Gur tric a ghrunnaich sinn san t-sruth,
Bho mhadainn gu àm-bìdh,
Ach eadrainn bhùirich iomadh muir
Bho àm nan iomadh linn.

Seo dhut mo làmh, mo charaid fìor,
'S do làmh-sa thoir dhomh fhìn,
Is òlaidh sinn gu grùnnd a' chup
Air sgàth nan iomadh linn.

Complete lyrics

Old Long Syne, by James Watson (1711) Burns original Scots verse[4] English translation (minimalist) Scots pronunciation guide (as Scots speakers would sound) IPA pronunciation guide[14]

Should Old Acquaintance be forgot,
and never thought upon;
The flames of Love extinguished,
and fully past and gone:

Is thy sweet Heart now grown so cold,
that loving Breast of thine;
That thou canst never once reflect
on Old long syne.

CHORUS:

On Old long syne my Jo,
in Old long syne,
That thou canst never once reflect,
on Old long syne.

My Heart is ravisht with delight,
when thee I think upon;
All Grief and Sorrow takes the flight,
and speedily is gone;

The bright resemblance of thy Face,
so fills this, Heart of mine;
That Force nor Fate can me displease,
for Old long syne.

CHORUS:

Since thoughts of thee doth banish grief,
when from thee I am gone;
Will not thy presence yield relief,
to this sad Heart of mine:

Why doth thy presence me defeat,
with excellence divine?
Especially when I reflect
on Old long syne

CHORUS

(several further stanzas)

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?

CHORUS:

For auld lang syne, my jo (or my dear),
for auld lang syne,
Well tak a cup o kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

And surely yell be your pint-stowp!
and surely Ill be mine!
And well tak a cup o kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

CHORUS:

We twa hae run about the braes,
and pud the gowans fine;
But weve wanderd mony a weary fit,
sin auld lang syne.

CHORUS:

We twa hae paidld i' the burn,
frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roard
sin auld lang syne.

CHORUS:

And theres a hand, my trusty fiere!
And gie's a hand o thine!
And well tak a right gude-willy waught,

CHORUS:

Should old acquaintance be forgot,

CHORUS:

for auld lang syne.

And surely youll buy your pint cup!
And surely Ill buy mine!
And we'll take a cup o kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

CHORUS:

We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine;
But weve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.

CHORUS:

We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.

CHORUS:

And theres a hand my trusty friend!
And give us a hand o thine!
And well take a right good-will draught,
