This winter salad's main ingredient is beef. We recommend you use grass-fed beef, due to its richer content in omega-3s and conjugated linoleic acid (a type of fat that may reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer). Calories: 335; Total Time: 48 minutes Ingredients (Yield: 4)
Directions 1. Preheat the broiler (or grill), placing a rack on the top shelf (close to heat source). Then line 2 racks with baking paper or foil and brush lightly with oil. In a large bowl or ziplock bag, combine 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar, 1 teaspoon rosemary, garlic and 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper. Add the steak and combine the marinade well. If using a bowl, cover and let the beef sit at room temperature for 15 minutes. 2. Place the eggplants, peppers and onions in a single layer on baking sheets, brushing the tops with a little oil (about 2 1/2 tablespoons). Sprinkle the vegetables with 2 teaspoons rosemary and some salt and pepper. Broil or grill the vegetables in batches, turning once, until they appear tender and golden brown on both sides. 3. In a nonstick pan, add the remaining 1/2 teaspoon oil over medium heat. Remove steak, discarding the marinade and cook on pan, turning occasionally. Cook for about 6 to 8 minutes in total (depending on thickness). Transfer to a chopping board and let it rest for about 5 minutes before slicing. 4. Combine the cheeses together, dividing among 4 plates. Top each with roasted vegetables and sliced steak. Then drizzle each dish with some balsamic vinegar and sprinkle with basil, seasoning with some pepper, prior to serving. |

If kept covered, this delicious salad will keep in the fridge for about 10 days. Calories: 314; Total Time: 45 minutes Ingredients (Yield: 4)
Directions 1. Preheat the oven to 400°F, placing a rack at the center of the oven. Meanwhile, cut the garlic head in half (horizontally), wrapping each half in foil. Roast on a baking sheet until very soft (about 30 minutes). Then, carefully unwrap and squeeze out the cloves into a blender or small food processor. Add the oil, Parmesan, lemon juice, anchovies and 1/2 teaspoon pepper to the mix. Blend until smooth. 2. Combine the beans with the lettuce, 3 tablespoons roasted garlic dressing, sun-dried tomatoes, parsley and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Divide the lettuce mixture evenly among 4 plates, topping each with tuna. Drizzle with remaining dressing and serve. |

An army of nuns rescues victims of human trafficking around the world. They do this by disguising themselves as prostitutes and laborers. Human trafficking happens when people are taken against their will. Often, they are sold into sexual slavery or forced labor. It’s estimated that one percent of the world population, more than 70 million people have been victims of human trafficking.
This army of nuns sheds their traditional religious clothing, and wears the typical clothing of prostitutes or laborers. This disguiseallows them to access some of the most dangerous brothels and working conditions in the world. Once they’re inside, they can help trapped and abused people escape. They work for as little as 2 cents a day to uncover abuses and help people escape. They also raise money to buy the freedom of children and women who’ve been sold into sexual slavery.
There are more than 1,000 of these religious sisters working in over 80 countries. In these places, some of the world’s most desperate families sometimes sell their own children into slavery.
The nuns call themselves Talitha Kum, which means, “arise child” in Aramaic, an ancient Mideast language. The phrase “Talitha Kum” is taken from a story in the bible about Jesus bringing a young girl back to life.
Most people would say that the Talitha Kum religious sisters are modern day heroes and that we need more people like them, but not everyone agrees. Christina Arnold, of Prevent Human Trafficking, says that the nuns might actually be interfering with the fight against trafficking.
“People have their hearts in the right place,” she said. But when the nuns purchase children to save them from human trafficking they are actually perpetuating the trade.
When the nuns buy children, they are putting money into the very thing they are working against. They are giving people who sell children a reason to keep doing it.
“It sounds like a good idea but it’s actually a ludicrous one,” she said.

'So how's Blue doing, son?' his father wants to know.
'Awesome! Dad, he's talking up a storm... But you just won't believe this. They've had such good results with talking, they've begun to teach the dogs how to read.'
'Read?' exclaims his father. 'No kidding! How do we get Blue in that program?'
'Just send $4,500. I'll get him in the class.'

Then, finally, he comes up with a plan. First he gives the dog to a nice family. Then he goes home at the end of the year, his father is all excited.
'Where's Blue? I just can't wait to talk with him, and see him read something!'
'Dad,' the boy says, 'I have some grim news. Yesterday morning, just before we left to drive home, Blue was in the living room, kicked back in the recliner, reading the Wall Street Journal. Then he suddenly turned to me and asked, 'So, is your dad still seeing that little redhead barmaid at the pub?''
The father groans and whispers, 'I hope you shot that bastard before he talked to your Mother!'

Ходила девушка по лесу, собирала ягоду-малину. Не заметила, как забрела в такую чащобу, что назад пути не найдет. Она и туда, и сюда, и влево, и вправо — нет нигде ни дорожки, ни тропочки. Бродила она день, и два, и три, ягодой кормилась, под кустами ночевала.
На четвертые сутки вышла девушка на зеленую светлую поляну и надивиться не может: стоит посреди поляны огромный-преогромный дуб, а на том дубу на самом верху большое искусно сделанное гнездо. А в гнезде птица невиданной красоты, разукрашенная яркими разноцветными и золотыми перьями. Взмахнула птица крылами — и всю поляну чудесным светом озарило. Запела птица веселым голосом — словно на гуслях звонких заиграли. Хвостом птица повернула — и вся поляна пошла кругом, стоит девушка, где стояла, а уже на другом месте очутилась, будто плывет она в лодке мимо лесу, мимо частого, только деревья перед глазами мелькают.

1. Acknowledge That You Speak in 3 Languages Just like everyone else, your vocabulary is different when you’re praising someone, criticizing them, or are ambivalent towards them. Acknowledge that you react differently in every situation, and use different vocabulary to convey messages depending on the situation. We all do this subconsciously, but try to be aware when it's happening. Once you understand that the language you use affects your decisions or the message you try to convey to others, you’ll be able to adjust it to work for you.
2. Don’t Try to Ignore the Negativese People might tell you that being negative is a bad thing, and only dishonest people will claim they don’t have an ounce of negativity in them. These people will tell you that if you practice enough, you’ll stop being negative, and that this is what you’re supposed to do, because there’s no reason to stay in that state of mind. This attitude is flawed because it is impossible to completely avoid negative feelings. We all experience them and at times they can even be useful. The question is not whether you allow negativity into your life, but rather when and why. Many a time you think you’re being neutral, but still express negative emotions. При интенсивной умственной нагрузке рацион школьника стоит немного скорректировать, добавив в него больше легкоусвояемых белков и продуктов, богатых витамином С.

В одном курином яйце среднего размера содержится от 6 до 8 г чистого легкоусвояемого белка - это 1/10 суточной нормы белка для школьника. Добавим сюда лецитины (эссенциальные фосфолипиды), необходимые для развития и нормального функционирования нервной системы, мышечных тканей и мозга, а также холин (содержится в желтке), и станет понятно, почему диетологи рекомендуют детям съедать хотя бы 4-5 яиц в неделю. Полезнее всего яйца, сваренные всмятку или пашот. Если же ребенку не нравится жидкий желток, можно сварить яйца вкрутую или приготовить омлет на пару. Яйца следует есть с овощами – свежими или запеченными, но ни в коем случае не с колбасой, ветчиной или беконом.

Морская рыба и морская капуста, кроме белка, содержат такой важный микроэлемент как йод. Этот минерал отвечает за мозговую деятельность и выработку тироксина – гормона щитовидной железы. Когда в организме не хватает йода, ребенок быстрее и сильнее утомляется, становится сонным, вялым и апатичным. Помните о том, что чем дальше вы живете от моря, тем выше вероятность того, что в вашем организме не хватает йода.
Также нужно отметить, что рыба, в отличие от мяса, не содержит сложных волокон, а значит, легко переваривается и прекрасно усваивается – это важно для детей с проблемами пищеварения. Детям наиболее полезна рыба жирных сортов (скумбрия, палтус), так как в ней много Омега-3.

Гречка, геркулес, киноа, нешлифованный рис – это богатые источники сложных углеводов, клетчатки и витаминов группы В. Съев такую кашу на завтрак, ребенок еще долгое время не будет испытывать чувство голода, ему хватит энергии для умственного труда, снизится тяга к сладкому. Каждая каша содержит полезные микроэлементы и витамины, так что лучше чередовать каши друг с другом. Сегодня – гречка, завтра – рис или геркулес. Каши, как и рыбу или яйца, лучше всего есть с овощами – свежими или тушеными. Кстати, замороженные овощи почти такие же полезные, как и свежие.

На 100 г творога приходится 20 г легкоусвояемого белка, а также все необходимые организму аминокислоты. Еще одна важная особенность творога – в нем сбалансировано содержание кальция и фосфора (1:1,5). Именно в такой пропорции кальций лучше всего усваивается и благотворно влияет на состояние зубов, волос, ногтей, мышц и нервной системы. Для школьника советуем выбирать творог без добавок, 4-9% жирности.
Кроме творога, детям рекомендуются молодые сыры (моцарелла, сулугуни, адыгейский, брынза) и кисломолочные продукты (если нет непереносимости).

Болгарский перец, черная смородина, киви, цитрусовые и квашеная капуста – вот продукты, в которых очень много витамина С, участвующего в окислительно-восстановительных реакциях и во многих жизненно важных процессах в организме. От наличия этого витамина зависят острота зрения, эластичность сосудов, усвояемость железа, заживление тканей и защита от инфекций.
