Derrick Cave is a 1200' long lava tube in the Devils Garden Lava Field in the Oregon Outback. Its age is roughly around 50,000 years old (?). This was just inside from the main entrance where several skylights rise 30' above the sandy floors down below, emitting rays of light giving an ethereal effect. Green bacteria can be seen growing alongside the cave walls. The last skylight is a thin slit in the ceiling & a bit hard to capture amidst such a dark place. Having the right filter next time might solve that issue. Here one can peer further into the cavern as it opens into a massive hallway at least 60 feet in height. This section is rather picturesque in my opinion, even far within one can see the distant glow of daylight.

Cow Horn Arch is a natural arch in the midst of the woods east of Tiller, Oregon. A random oddity to come upon, it consists of a vast hole 29 feet across by 20 feet in height within a free-standing pillar of volcanic rhyolitic rock. It is a short distance from forest service roads as the Cougar Butte Trail passes right through it. In 2017 the High Cascades Complex fires burned through the area, burning the immediate plants & trees. It wasn't a complete scourch but enough to alter the appearance. This image is divided in half, taken from just about the same location, the 2016 view a year before the fire shows a thick green forest versus the more barren 2018 view a year later. VillaRusconi-Clerici is one of many grand houses on the shores of Lago Maggiore in the Italian piedmont near Switzerland. Once the summer residence of a count who loved gardening, it is now a superb wedding venue run by his widow.

From this spot you can see the Cleveland Aquarium complex, a few ruins of he Ohio-Erie canal, and a grand old bascule bridge, perhaps the only one on the Flats.
