Miss Thailand, Anna Sueangam-iam, wore a dress made of soda can tabs combined with Swarovski crystals as a tribute to her parents during the preliminary evening gown competition.

"This gown was inspired by the familiar surroundings of my childhood," she wrote on Instagram. "Growing up with garbage collector parents, my life as a child was among piles of garbage and recyclables. This unique gown was purposefully tailor-made with discarded and recycled materials, namely the 'Can Tab' to present to the UNIVERSE that what's considered worthless by many actually possesses its own value and beauty. Thank you all for seeing it, hearing it, and hopefully being that message of self-worth."

Anna Sueangam-iam was born and raised in a slum in Bangkok with her father. In an effort to protect her from an unsafe environment, her family sent her to a temple where she grew up among Buddhist nuns. Here her meals consisted of leftover food from the monks which most people would consider waste. However, it helped her to grow up and survive childhood life. At an early age, poverty differentiated her life at school from other children, especially the cost of tuition. In order to cover her tuition fees, she had to collect merit points, donate blood every semester, collect plastic waste bottles, and clean public restrooms. This experience made her question the accessibility Thai children had to education.

25 year old Maude Apatow (Euphoria), daughter of Judd Apatow (The Larry Sanders Show, Freaks & Geeks, Undeclared, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Anchorman, Talladega Nights), will make her stage debut in the off Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors. She will be replacing Tony winner Lena Hall as Audrey beginning February 7. Other cast members include Tony winner Matt Doyle as Seymour and Tony nominee Bryce Pinkham as Dr. Orin Scrivello.

In high school, Apatow appeared in musicals such as Cabaret and Into the Woods. She studied theatre at Northwestern University but dropped out after her sophomore year.

Noma, the expensive restaurant with 3 Michelin stars in Copenhagen is planning to close. Chef Ren'e Redzepi announced he was closing one of the world's most lauded restaurants because the model was unsustainable and financially and emotionally draining.

Comparisons between Noma and The Menu, the goth Ralph Fiennes movie about an expensive restaurant have surfaced, since the movie puts a light on the extreme labor abuse that happens behind close doors on lauded restaurants. Clients only experience the exquisite food but don’t realize what happens hidden. Noma welcomed the presence of unpaid interns, known in the restaurant world as stagiaires. Stagiaires have been part of the restaurant world for a long time and have been liked to an indenture in order to boast their work experience by adding top notch restaurants as past experience.

On the other hand some are declaring that fine dining has suffered a lethal blow. Frank Bruni categorized Noma as one of those “internationally renowned, ardently coveted temples of gastronomy that are forever trying to dazzle self-regarding epicures with new stunts, novel sensations, modes of presentation that we hadn’t imagined, flora and fauna rarely pinned down on a plate.”

Either way the restaurant has been both lauded and mocked for its menu and its snobbery or upscale air, depending on where you stand. It famously had 3 seasonal menus based on moss, exotic ingredients like reindeer, blue lobster and cod head and an extensive natural wines selection.
