Avatar: The Way of Water ruled again at the holidiay weekend box office, coming on top for the 5th weekend in a row. The film earned $31.1 million for the 3-day and $38.5 million for the 4-day. Its domestic gross now stands at $570.3 million. Its worldwide total is now $1.89 billion. We could possibly be celebrating that $2 billion mark next weekend Na'vistans!!

M3GAN followed in 2nd place, dropping a healthly 41% for a $17.9 million 3-day and $21.2 million 4-day. Its domestic total so far is a nice $60 million. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish stayed in 3rd and dropped 1%, with a $13.4/$17.3 million weekend. The film has passed the $100 million mark, taking in $111 million.

A Man Called Otto beat expectations as it expanded super-wide to 3,800 theaters. Its $12.6/$15 million weekend is almost double than what was estimated.

Gerald Butler's Plane rounded out the Top 5, debuting in 3,000 theaters with another better-than-estimated $10/$11.6 million. The film has been overall well liked compared to previous Bulter action-films, scoring a B+ Cinemascore, and a 63 on Metacritic.

-It only took 8 episodes into season 2 but Luna officially got her own storyline. One that mirrors practically every single teens storyline: She wants her mother's approval and her mother is horrible to her causing Luna to reveal a devastating family secret.

-Monet's mother is shocked to see Monet show some affection and thus encourages the teachers to continue their blind items that are sent into Gossip Girl.

-Things are back to normal for the throuple after 1 episode of no drama between the 3 of them. Aki doubts his importance in the throuple causing the beginning of the end for them.

-Julien wants to get back into Audreys good graces but little does she know that Audrey just wants revenge. Audrey sends Julien to her step-mothers fashion launch only to set them both up with switching out the pricing and sizing causing backlash to Julien for supporting an expensive, non-size inclusive fashion brand and the step-mothers shop to be filled with protestors.

-Obey continues to try to take down his mother.

-Zoya and friend attempt to bring down Gossip Girl by enlisting the help of Lady Gaga.

Thanks to what looks to be the superspreader event that was the Golden Globes, 'The Banshees of Inishsherin' stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson will be missing out on Sunday's Critics Choice Awards because they both tested positive for COVID. Jamie Lee Curtis is already missing the ceremony for the same reason.

The Critics Choice Awards air live starting at 7pm EST on the CW for those not watching the NFL playoffs.

There is a widely seen report that Micheal Bay killed a pigeon on the set of 6 Underground.

TheWrap reported that the filmmaker was facing charges in Italy relating to the killing of a pigeon on the set in Rome, despite making several attempts to clear the case with Italian authorities.

Bay insisted he was never charged or accused, and that no animals were harmed on the set. Pigeons are a protected species in Italy.

Despite removing and killing so much content in production, Warner Bros. Discovery is raising prices for their streaming service, HBO Max. Effective Thursday, Jan. 12, the price of a new HBO Max no-ads monthly subscription in the U.S. will increase from $14.99 to $15.99 (or $149.99/year), a 7% increase. Just in time for The Last of Us. “This price increase of one dollar will allow us to continue to invest in providing even more culture-defining programming and improving our customer experience for all users,” the company said in a statement.

Their ad-supported tier remains unchanged at $9.99/month (or $99.99/year).

‘The Last of Us’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ star Bella Ramsey has come out as gender fluid.

“I guess my gender has always been very fluid,” Ramsey said. “Someone would call me ‘she’ or ‘her’ and I wouldn’t think about it, but I knew that if someone called me ‘he’ it was a bit exciting.”

As for pronouns, Ramsey said they would check “nonbinary” if it’s an option on a form. “I’m very much just a person,” they added. “Being gendered isn’t something that I particularly like, but in terms of pronouns, I really couldn’t care less.”

Oscar nomination voting opened up for Academy members on January 12th. That same day, a long list of celebrities started encouraging voters to put Andrea Riseborough in the Best Actress conversation for To Leslie. These celebrities include Jamie Lee Curtis, Ed Norton, Gwyneth Paltrow, Susan Sarandon, and many more.

Riseborough has picked up nominations from the Chicago Film Critics Association and Independent Spirit Awards so far, but has not been considered a frontrunner in the race. For months, it has been agreed by awards season followers that Best Actress will come down to Blanchett versus Yeoh.

While this could obviously be organic support after screenings, some of celebrities in question tweeted similar praise. For instance, Dul'e Hill, Joe Mantegna, and Meredeith Vieira all posted identical reviews about the movie being "a small film with a giant heart" with the same incorrect handles attached.
