The Boomerang effect is a basic principle of life. Generally there is only so much love and hate to go around. So the probabilities are that at some point in life you will receive both love and hate.
Regardless of how you interact with others there is always going to be negative as well as positive reactions.
However, the more love you send out the more love you will receive.
