Мебели и больших предметов из перламутра в музеях и на антикварных сайтах очень мало. Удалось найти лишь несколько больших предметов целиком из перламутра, в основном из него делали небольшие вещицы и детали или применяли для инкрустации.

has been suggested that the mother of pearl panels which decorate this snuffbox are German or Flemish in origin, and date from the early or mid 18th century.


Little is known of Jacques-André Delisle, the maker of this box. He joined the goldsmith's guild by letters patent in July 1718 and registered his mark as a goldsmith in 1720, sponsored by the gold-box maker Pierre de Roussy.
