My first profession is the teacher of Russian in Ukraine.
Do you know what does it mean “суржик”? Hope, you don’t.
For me American English is the “суржик” towards British English.

safrosha, american is simplified english, i m not talking about the quality of language
australian english is different too, new zealander's english is different too
суржик - in english version would be maltese (mix of italina, english and arabic)
or суржик - in english would be africans (mix of africans, german and english in South Africa_)
i m saying that some one from london could speak pretty clear to you and when you talking to someone from Ireland you wont understand a word if not used to it or try to speak to someone from new zealand .......man!!! they speak fast, you only hear the first letters of the words
same sh.t in states, try to speak to someone in texas, real country man or a black man.......totally different language, but its more of the accent issue
proper enlgish on BBC news (british) or CNN news (american) sounds pretty similar
