A backdrop depicts an enlarged and adapted section of an unidentified winter scene; which Beaton reported in his diary as being a work by the British painter Reginald John [Rex] Whistler (1905-1944).

She is seen standing, wearing a gown and a broad sash decorated with jewels and a brooch. She wears a crown and a dark cape, draped from her shoulder. The room in the background appears formal and decorative, with an ornate fireplace, columns, gilt candle sticks and carved details on the furniture and walls. Large mirrors reach high up towards the ceiling and a richly patterned carpet is seen at her feet.
