Shuhratjon- since you decided not to attend the meeting we had today at IRC I'll have to do tell you what we discussed. We at CCG have decided to terminate your employment with us. You can read the specifics in the letter that I have written. I have given all of the documentation to Julianne and Lana. They are quite in agreement. This is effective immediately. If you come here again, we will only ask you to leave. If you try and maintain contact with any staff member or come to any of our sites, we will obtain a restraining order. This is not up for discussion. For further information, please refer to the attached letter.

My name is Tyler Smith and I am the Director of Farm Sales, Food Culture and Outreach for Create Common Good (CCG). I, along with Devi Kharel, am Shuhratjons direct supervisor. The purpose of this letter is to speak about issues that we take with Shuhratjon specifically as an employee. Attached are the following documents: our record of issues that Shuhratjon has caused, and two letters that he has written to us.

First, in addressing issues about his conduct during work, we have a list of specific incidents where Shuhratjon was rude, unkind or uncooperative in his work with us. I need not detail every incident exactly in this letter. They are quite enough to warrant at least a warning if not termination. I have verbally warned Shuhratjon numerous times about his behavior and often during those warnings (mostly because he insists) I have written out what I am saying to him.

Second, I would like to address his general attitude. We make special accommodations for Shuhratjon nearly every day. He is frequently rude to his fellow farm staff members, insisting that he gets his own way and that they do things wrong. Finally, he is unpleasant even for his supervisors. He frequently tells us what he is going to do (not what we ask him to do), and also what he will not do. On at least two different occasions (as listed in the documentation), he has barged into Taras office with neither invitation nor appointment and demanded her time.

Third, Shuhratjon has delivered us two different letters. He claims that either staff or volunteers are taking pictures of him without his consent. The first half of the first letter is fairly reasonable. It would be one thing to express concern for something that he is uncomfortable with; we always try to respect the wishes of staff members. The truth is though that he does not have any actual evidence of this. As an organization, we take pictures. We use them for our website, for e-communications, and for promotional materials. We have volunteers we specifically ask to come and take photographs and we, as staff, occasionally take photographs. We are not sorry for that. It is part of the nature of what we do. We use these photographs to tell our story. I have specifically spoken to other staff members asking them not to take pictures of Shuhratjon. I have also spoken to our regular volunteers asking them not take pictures of him. We have no pictures of him on our website, on any of our promotional materials, in any of our e-blasts, or even in our Flickr account. If a volunteer has taken a photograph of Shuhratjon, very likely it was not intentional and we are not aware of it.

The second half of the first letter is where our concern lies. It is both judgmental and possibly even threatening. It is, in all respects, a very inappropriate letter. As mentioned, the letter is, to a degree covertly threatening. There are many references to the wrath of Allah falling on us, Allah punishing us, our friends, and our relatives. Needless to say, this is not the best way to deliver information to us. We may not share the same beliefs about God and so even the wording of this letter is inappropriate in the workplace. This letter is, by itself, enough reason for us end our cooperation with Shuhratjon.

The second letter that Shuhratjon delivered to us is more of the same. Again, there are many references to Allah punishing sin, etc.

Because of the whole of Shuhratjons words, actions and attitudes, we have decided that it is best for us to end his employment with us. We particularly take safety very seriously and Shuhratjons veiled threats towards us are not acceptable. He no longer works with us, effective immediately, and should not attempt to make contact with any CCG staff member. He should not, under any circumstances, come to any of the sites where we operate. This includes: our office, our farm, the greenhouse and the kitchen(s) that we utilize. We are sorry that this is the way it is. We sincerely wished to work with him, and help him in any ways that we could.
