Portland Castle is one of King Henry VIII's chain of coastal artillery forts positioned along the south coast of England. It was built to a unique fan design between 1539-41, using local Portland stone. Together with Sandsfoot Castle, it defended the natural anchorage known as Portland Roads.  A renewed threat of Spanish invasion lead to the neglected castle being repaired and upgraded with two new gun platforms for the lower and upper keeps between 1584-86. The castle finally saw military action during the mid-1600s, playing a part in the English Civil War and Anglo Dutch War. Over subsequent centuries, it served as either a residence or reverted to military purposes depending on whether the country was at war. Today, it is open to the public and managed by English Heritage.

The Museum of Islamic Art is a museum on one end of the seven-kilometer-long (4.3 mi) Corniche in Doha, Qatar. As per the architect I. M. Pei's specifications, the museum is built on an island off an artificial projecting peninsula near the traditional dhow harbor. A purpose-built park surrounds the edifice on the eastern and southern facades while two bridges connect the southern front facade of the property with the main peninsula that holds the park. Auroville is an visionary township in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 1968 by Mirra Alfassa ("The Mother") and designed by architect Roger Anger. New Creation Community is one from many Auroville Communities.

For its construction, the hill of Santa Luzia was chosen because it is a place that, when occupied by the enemy, could put the integrity of the city at risk. It has a rectangular plan with pentagonal bastions at the vertices, in the Vauban style. The bastions are invoked by Santo Ant'onio, Santa Isabel, S~ao Pedro and Nossa Senhora da Conceic~ao, with guardhouses at the projecting angles. On the fronts facing east and south, there are two revelins named Badajoz and Poterna respectively

The current building was erected from 1517 to replace an earlier Gothic church. The author of the Manueline style project was probably Francisco de Arruda. The opening to worship was held in 1537, with the works still unfinished. The general structure of the temple dates from the Manueline era, a three-navy fortress church discovered with a ribbed vault. The entrance narthex under the tower and the side portal are also Manueline. The main portal, by Miguel de Arruda, dates from 1550 and has a Renaissance character. In 1570 the church became the seat of the diocese of Elvas, thus ascending the cathedral (S'e). In the 17th and 18th centuries, numerous stylistic changes were made that enriched the interior. At the time of Bishop D. Lourenco de Lencastre (1759-1780), in particular, the Cathedral won several marble altars from Estremoz, such as the chancel made by Jos'e Francisco de Abreu. Also at that time, the organ's gilt work was carried out, attributed to the Italian Pascoal Caetano Oldovini. Also noteworthy is the cabido room, built in the 17th century.

Pyramidal pine pillory, with five steps octagonal, from where the torso shaft evolves with bands ornamented by spheres, cut in half by a large ring, with a small capital, from where the fastening irons evolve. Finishing in pyramidal pinnacle. Very elaborate pillory, with the shaft, ring, capital and finish decorated by spherical elements. Only a detailed examination will make it possible to differentiate the original Manueline elements from the neo-Manueline additions made in the 20th century.

A fantastic place to go for some isolation. Lac Philippe is situated just north west of Ottawa, in the Gatineau Park. In the winter it offers outdoor activities, such as cross country skiing ana snowshoeing. The park was created in 1938 and was the first in Quebec.

The intermediate line of defense was compromised by urban expansion. Its walls were torn by four doors: Ferrada, Porta Nova or Encarnac~ao, Santiago and Bispo.
