We can see a great number of faces during our life and also we can estimate them. We say «Oh, she’s cute and quite attractive» or «she’ a real beauty!». But what is beauty? Is it something we can measure? Art historians, anthropologists and human psychologists in general agree that it is the symmetry of a face, its perfect proportion, or indeed its averageness - where no feature stands out.
But we haven’t got a global standard of beauty. It depends on culture of the country, traditions and your own perception, of course. In the most cases a person likes traditional model of beauty in his country. An African man will never understand the Nordic beauty and vice versa.
Let ‘s see some examples of national models of beauty.
For the northern people it usually means straight fair hair, oval face and pale skin, blue eyes, thin straight nose and slim figure. But people from Asia think the beautiful woman must have a bony face of sunburnt complexion, long wavy black hair, straight nose with extended nasal wings, bright brown eyes and graceful figure. But nowadays western culture is rendering a great influence on the ideal of beauty for the whole world. Beauty of celebrities is wished by the people. But their beauty has no standards. All popular singers and actors are completely different! The classical western beauty seems almost invisible.
Beauty is imperfection. Imperfection is character. Character is individuality. Individuality is what you need to fall in Love. And someone you can fall in love with has the truest beauty of all.
