A Perfect Society.
If I would organize the society, it would be much better, than it is now. Ideally, it would be anarchy, but for now I will plan it for democracy.
In my society, the biggest effort would be put towards economical freedom. I believe, that every man can reach enormous welfare through his/her ability to take risks, felicity in different areas, and intelligence.
I also believe that proper government would give everyone equal chance to do whatever one wants to do. Thus, welfare would be provided. The difference of my welfare system will be in only helping people once in their lifetime, with a significant amount of money ($75,000-100,000 in today’s equivalent). I personally know people, who’ve lived off the welfare program their whole lives. I don’t think support shall be provided to such individuals. With my type of support, everyone would get a powerful boost. People would be able to start a business, and do whatever he/she wants, without being a parasite to the society.
The most serious problem to my society would be the “losers” – people, who’ve wasted their welfare without overlooking the long-term dangers. I am sure that it would be an abundance of those. They might incite other citizens to a riot, but possibility of an actual civil war doesn’t seem too serious to me. As good as I know the history, successful riots start when the majority isn’t happy. One-time boost, like in my society, never has been done, and I believe, it will protect the state from the danger of a revolt. By that, significant level of governmental, and, therefore, economical, stability is provided.
I plan to keep taxes on their common day level, but to redistribute their use. I want to lower foreign help and army spending. I want to return all of the soldiers, who fight overseas, leaving only garrisons in the foreign military bases. The size of the army would be reduced; spare money would be spent on the long-waiting educational reform.
I don’t think the society shall have much equity – one shall have just as much as he/she costs (meaning skills, intelligence and education). If you don’t have enough – you want too much for your price.
Not for a second I believe that everyone would be happy in my society, I only think, that it would be fair.
