The Scout Movement
Scouting, also known as the Scout Movement, is a worldwide youth movement with the stated aim of supporting young people in their physical, mental and spiritual development, so that they may play constructive roles in society. The Scout Movement is free-will and indifferent.
Scouting was founded by Sir Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell in 1907 in Great Britain. Also he wrote book «Scouting for boys» in 1909. Works of Ernest Thompson Seton influenced on the Scout Movement too. Olive Baden-Powell and his sister Agnes Baden-Powell introduced the Girl Guides in 1910, a parallel movement for girls, sometimes named Girl Scouts. Scouting appeared in Russia in 1909. It was founded by Oleg Pantunov.
In our days the Scout Movement has 38 millions of members from whole world. Motto of scouts is “Be Prepared”.
The Scout Movement has 3 main principles: duty to God, duty to Homeland and society, duty to oneself. All scouts give special promise. Scouting has its own traditions and symbols. The emblem is lily or trefoil. The emblems of different scouts’ organizations have many differences. Also scouts have special salute, handshake, tie and insignia.

Lord George Gordon Byron |

Lord George Gordon Byron
Monument to a dog
When some proud son of man returns to earth,
Unknown to glory, but upheld by birth,
The sculptor's art exhausts the pomp of woe,
And storied urns record who rests below.
When all is done, upon the tomb is seen,
Not what he was, but what he should have been.
But the poor dog, in life the firmest friend,
The first to welcome, foremost to defend,
Whose honest heart is still his master's own,
Who labors, fights, lives, breathes for him alone,
Unhonored falls, unnoticed all his worth,
Denied in heaven the soul he held on earth
While man, vain insect! hopes to be forgiven,
And claims himself a sole exclusive heaven.
Oh man! thou feeble tenant of an hour,
Debased by slavery, or corrupt by power--
Who knows thee well must quit thee with disgust,
Degraded mass of animated dust!
Thy love is lust, thy friendship all a cheat,
Thy smiles hypocrisy, thy words deceit!
By nature vile, ennobled but by name,
Each kindred brute might bid thee blush for shame.
Ye, who perchance behold this simple urn,
Pass on--it honors none you wish to mourn.
To mark a friend's remains these stones arise;
I never knew but one--and here he lies.
