David Stowell. Queen Victoria's Statue. A close up of the statue of Queen Victoria in front of the Town Hall. The inscription reads "VICTORIA QUEEN EMPRESS 1837-1901 She wrought her people lasting good". On closer inspection you can see the statue is offset slightly to the right on the base plinth. This is result of a German bomb which was dropped nearby on 14th November 1940.
