Меня до такой степени достает почта, от которой никакого толку, кроме кипы ненужной бумаги, (речь идет не об электронной почте, хотя и здесь она меня тоже притомила, но здесь хотя бы фильтры настроить можно) что я либо проверяю почту исключительно редко, (пару раз в месяц), но когда проверяю, то просматриваю все буквально мельком, и большая ее часть идет в мой шредер (shredder). Туда идет, в основном то, на чем есть моя личная информация. Реклама и разного рода купоны  это все идет в мусорное ведро, которое стоит под самыми почтовыми ящиками.

Я, как-то, попросил почтальона не класть в мой ящик рекламу и разного рода разноцветную макулатуру,  все равно все идет сразу в это ведро.  сказал я ей, показывая на ведро.

 Не могу.  сказала она мне.  Я тебе дам, а ты сам туда и положи. Мы же сейчас только и существуем за счет вот этой макулатуры.

Это, действительно, так. USPS сейчас держится на плаву, только благодаря мусору, который они суют в наши ящики, но за которые им платят компании, производители этой макулатуры. В прошлом году, помнится мне, в Конгрессе рассматривался вариант, при котором USPS должна была разносить почту только пять раз в неделю.

Так вот, я настолько не люблю этот бумажный спам, что на этой неделе, кинул в шредер письма из банка, не вскрывая. И только когда мой монстр закончил свою жевательную работу, я осознал, что в одном из невскрытых конвертов была& кредитная карта, которую банк мне прислал взамен старой, у которой истекал срок действия.

Пришлось лезть на вебсайт банка и исправлять ошибку, просить, чтобы мне прислали еще одну карту.

На мое счастье, там это все делалось двумя кликами мыши.

Честно говоря, глядя на нашу погоду сейчас, я даже и не верю тому, что я сам же писал о погоде чуть больше недели назад.

На дворе исключительно плюсовая температура. Пару дней было дождливо, но сегодня даже и намека на дождь не было.

Скоро 15 лет как я здесь живу, но погода меня не перестает удивлять. Нет, лучше так: я не перестаю удивляться этой погоде, хотя&

Общественность в возмущении. Какой-то, очень большой любитель трогать девочек, начал это делать в общественном транспорте.

PORTLAND – Police are trying to track down a man who inappropriately touched two teenage girls in separate incidents on TriMet.

Just before 9 a.m. on Feb. 6, a man approached a 13-year-old girl who was waiting for the bus at Northeast Dekum Street and Northeast Durham Avenue. The man then used sexually explicit language and inappropriately touched the teen, police said.

Detectives then learned about a similar incident on Jan. 23 when a man sat next to a 14-year-old girl on a TriMet bus and made sexually explicit comments before inappropriately touching her.

Police release surveillance footage of the man Friday.

The suspect was described as a clean-shaven African American man in his mid 20s to early 30s, 5-foot-10, weighing 175 lbs., with black hair, and brown eyes.

Anyone with information was asked to call police at 503-823-0249.

Harding became notorious in conjunction with the January 6, 1994, attack on her competitor Nancy Kerrigan. Hardings ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly, and her bodyguard, Shawn Eckhardt,[6] hired Shane Stant to break Kerrigans right leg so that she would be unable to skate. Stant followed her to Detroit after failing to find her at her training rink in Massachusetts, and struck her on the thigh a few inches above the knee with an ASP baton.[34] Her leg was only bruised, not broken, but the injury forced her to withdraw from the national championship. Harding won that event, and they were both selected for the 1994 Olympic team.[35] Harding finished eighth in Lillehammer, while Kerrigan, by then fully recovered from the injury, won the silver medal behind Oksana Baiul.

The attack on Kerrigan and the news of Hardings alleged involvement led to a media frenzy of saturation news coverage. Kerrigan appeared on the cover of both TIME and Newsweek magazines in January 1994. Reporters and TV news crews attended Hardings practices in Portland and camped out in front of Kerrigans home. CBS assigned Connie Chung to follow her every move in Lillehammer. 400 members of the press jammed into the practice rink in Norway. Scott Hamilton complained that the world press was turning the Olympics into just another sensational tabloid event.[36] The tape-delayed broadcast of the short program at the Olympics remains one of the most watched telecasts in American history.[37]

On February 1, 1994, Gillooly accepted a plea bargain in exchange for his testimony against Harding. Gillooly, Stant, Eckhardt, and getaway car driver Derrick Smith all served time in prison for the attack.[38] Eckhardt was sentenced to 18 months in prison for racketeering but was released four months early in September 1995.[6]

Harding avoided further prosecution and a possible jail sentence by pleading guilty on March 16 to conspiring to hinder prosecution of the attackers.[39] She received three years probation, 500 hours of community service, and a $160,000 fine. As part of the plea bargain, she was also forced to withdraw from the 1994 World Figure Skating Championships and resign from the USFSA.[40] On June 30, 1994, after conducting its own investigation of the attack, the USFSA stripped her of her 1994 U.S. Championships title and banned her for life from participating in USFSA-run events as either a skater or a coach.[18] The USFSA concluded that she knew about the attack before it happened and displayed a clear disregard for fairness, good sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Although the USFSA has no control over professional skating events, she was also persona non grata on the pro circuit because few skaters and promoters would work with her. Consequently, she failed to benefit from the pro skating boom that ensued in the aftermath of the scandal.[36]

In her 2008 autobiography, The Tonya Tapes, she said that she wanted to call the FBI to reveal what she knew, but refused when Gillooly allegedly threatened her with death following a gunpoint gang rape by him and two other men she did not know. He subsequently changed his name to Jeff Stone and called the allegations utterly ridiculous.[7] Eckhardt, who legally changed his name to Brian Sean Griffith following his release from jail, died of natural causes at age 40 on December 12, 2007.[6]

MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (AP) — Jamie Coots, a snake-handling Kentucky pastor who appeared on the National Geographic television reality show Snake Salvation, died Saturday after being bitten by a snake.

Coots was handling a rattlesnake during a Saturday night service at his Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus Name Church in Middlesboro when he was bit, another preacher, Cody Winn, told WBIR-TV (http://on.wbir.com/1cLrs8A).

Jamie went across the floor. He had one of the rattlers in his hand, he came over and he was standing beside me. It was plain view, it just turned its head and bit him in the back of the hand & within a second, Winn said.

When an ambulance arrived at the church at 8:30 p.m., they were told Coots had gone home, the Middlesboro Police Department said in a news release. Contacted at his house, Coots refused medical treatment.

Emergency workers left about 9:10 p.m. When they returned about an hour later, Coots was dead from a venomous snake bite, police said.

In January 2013, Coots was caught transporting three rattlesnakes and two copperheads through Knoxville, Tenn. Wildlife officials confiscated the snakes, and Coots pleaded guilty to illegally wildlife possession. He was given one year of unsupervised probation.

Coots said then he needed the snakes for religious reasons, citing a Bible passage in the book of Mark that reads, in part: And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Coots said he took the passage at face value.

We literally believe they want us to take up snakes, Coots told The Associated Press in February 2013. Weve been serpent handling for the past 20 or 21 years.

After he was bitten Saturday night, Coots dropped the snakes, but then picked them back up and continued on. Within minutes, Winn said Coots headed to the bathroom.

His son, Cody, told the television station his dad had been bit eight times before, but never had such a severe reaction. Cody Coots said he thought the bite would be just like all the others.

Американская команда конькобежцев пока не выиграла ни одной медали.

Сейчас слушаю комментаторов, как обычно, говорят, что нужно что-то делать с формой. Не спортивной формой в смысле тренированности, а в смысле той формы, что на конькобежцах.

Ну, в общем, в России тоже что-то всегда мешает. Теперь россияне должны гордиться наверное, что такое случается не только с ними.

Если кто-то не видел, очень рекомендую. Это не очень популярная тема, о контакте двух миров. В России эти миры принципиально не пересекаются.

Несмотря на больную тему, фильм смотрится легко, и без какого-либо оттенка жалости. Достаточно веселый фильм.

Фильм  французский. С английскими титрами. К сожалению, ничего похожего на русские титры или перевод я найти не смог.

Впрочем, не очень настойчиво искал.

Ну, а что? Я считаю, это побитие всяких стереотипов. Прямо вот так. Еще бы матрешку, медведя и балалайку, но.. к сожалению, здесь их как-то тяжело вставить. А, это  находка, я считаю. Человек очень хорошо познакомился с российской культурой.

Мой сосед сверху получил предупреждение о выселении.

Нужно признаться, что там давно нужно было что-то делать. Постоянные ночные драки, непрекращающийся ни днем ни ночью поток посетителей, которые порой не знают ни имени того, к кому они идут, ни номера квартиры. Все это наводит на нехорошие мысли, но.. дело не в том, что мы можем додумать, а в том, что происходит.

Сосед сверху  парализован. На коляске. Конечно же, он попытался оспорить выселение. Оспорить в суде.

Суд был на прошлой неделе и решение судьи  неделя на выселение. Неделя заканчивается завтра в полночь.

Замечу, что судья не посмотрел ни на состояние соседа и не принял во внимание доводы его адвоката в том, что на улице зима и человеку на коляске очень сложно будет найти жилье в течение недели. Нарушил правила проживания  все. Остальное все только слова и ничего больше.

Конечно, мне соседа жаль, но непрекращающийся ни днем ни ночью шум и топот над головой тоже порядком поднадоел.

Завтра в полночь заканчивается срок, который был отпущен судьей.

Дальше придет полиция и просто выставит человека на инвалидной коляске на улицу. Перед Законом равны все.

PORTLAND – It could take as long as two months to clean up after the storm that pounded the Portland and Vancouver Metro areas with snow and ice, officials said Tuesday.

From road gravel, to wrecked cars and at least one collapsed roof, the damage remains, even after the storm has left town.

The city laid down roughly 1000 cubic yards of gravel on ice-covered roads. Now that all the snow and ice has melted, sweeper trucks have been deployed to collect all the gravel to recycle it.

The trucks can only travel at speeds up to 3 miles per hour, so the process is especially time consuming.

“We’d love to say [it will take] days, but people should expect that it will take hopefully less than 6 to 8 weeks. That’s what we’re planning on,” said Diane Dulken with the Portland Department of Transportation.

She explained that crews will clear the city core and main routes with bike lanes first.

In the meantime, many drivers have complained that the gravel has caused chips on their windshields and dings in their cars.

Chris Ralston with Speedy Glass said it’s keeping his Northeast Portland business quite busy.

“The rocks are starting to lift up off the pavement and they’re hitting the windshields,” he said. “Business has picked up 70 percent.”

Bumper, fender and suspension damage are the most common problems, according to J.R. Carlson with Fix It Auto on East Burnside.

“It turns into a big down pouring of business that comes into the shop,” he said.

Вот так сейчас выглядят наши деревья. Снег начал таять и на дорогах сплошной лед. Йипа так и не смогла толком сделать то, что она хотела сделать. По привычке рванула в привычное ей место, но& не добежала. Начала скользить на каждом шагу. В итоге, присела там, где получилось, а потом медленно и долго начала свое движение назад. Мы сегодня получили на свои мобильники предупреждение, постараться не выходить и не выезжать из домов. Скользко.

Команда Сиэтла выиграла, все-таки, Super Bowl. Сейчас там целую неделю будут праздновать.

Странно это все.

А у нас, внезапно, похолодало. Снег сегодня падал, но очень редко. Тоже, как-то странно.

Меняю версию PHP на хостинге, так что.. пробую.

Кстати, как-то, совершенно незаметно пролетел первый месяц 2014-ого.

Точнее, не на улице, а в нашей округе. Сегодня команда Seahawks пробилась в финал по американскому футболу. Второй раз в истории этой команды.

Я не большой любитель американского футбола, если честно. Я его совсем не понимаю и даже уже потерял надежду на то, что когда-нибудь пойму эту игру. Но& народ вокруг ликует. Хотя это совсем не Орегон, а соседний штат& Тем не менее, здесь все считают Seahawks нашей командой.

Я уже несколько раз писал, что Super Bowl считается в США чуть-ли не национальным праздником. Вот команда из Сиэттла и пробилась в этот самый Super Bowl. Теперь все замерли в ожидании.

Честно говоря, не представляю, что здесь будет творится, если команда выиграет. В Сиэттле, после одной из игр было даже зарегистрировано землетрясение в 1.3 балла. Так вот могуче ликовали болельщики.

Кстати, у Portland Trailblazers и у Seahawks один и тот же владелец команды.

Пришел ко мне один мой очень хороший друг пару дней назад. Что-то мы разговорились и он мне выдал новость, оказывается на Youtube.com можно найти российские фильмы. И сериалы тоже. К примеру, нашел сериал Гаишники. Посмотрел пару серий, увидел немного российской жизни.

Во всяком случае той, какой ее видят киношники.

Честно сказать, я с того времени, как уехал, полностью отстал от культурной российской жизни.

В общем, посоветуйте что-нибудь стоящее, а? Чтобы не жалеть об убитом времени. Просто хочется посмотреть, ну, и.. ностальгические мотивы тоже есть в этом во всем..

& Они пишут о чем угодно.

К примеру, недавно начали сенсационно разоблачать нового Мэра Нью-Йорка в том, что он& неправильно кушает пиццу.

А кушает он ее.. (О, ужас!) с помощью ножа и вилки.
