Продолжаю любить американские сериалы, особенно те, в которых так или иначе затрагивается Россия. Сейчас смотрю Arrow.

Американцы прилетели в Россию, чтобы освободить женщину, которая попала в Gulag, а точнее в Koshmar. Оказывается,  это такое страшное место. Речь идет о сегодняшней России.

Прямой вопрос от американцев: Нам нужно срочно собрать команду, чтобы освободить женщину из Koshmar?

Еще не досмотрел, но, видимо,  освободят. Как иначе?

Начались непонятные проблемы с телефоом. Говорю в Bluetooth Headset и вдруг оказывается, что говорю зря, потому что связь с телефоном потеряна и меня не слышат. В общем, решил обновить телефон. Посмотрел, повыбирал, выбрал то, что мне понравилось. Выиграл, поскольку Ebay  это аукцион.

На Ebay я покупаю не впервые и и никаких проблем с моими предыдущими покупками у меня не было. Платил деньги, часто даже не задавая вопросов. В этот раз, что-то во мне заговорило и я начал задавать вопросы тому, который продавал. Самым главным вопросом было, смогу ли я этот телефон активировать, то есть, чистый ли у него ESN. Вопрос задал несколько раз, ответ получил положительный  чистый. Обычно я оплачиваю покупки на Ebay в течение пяти минут после окончания аукциона. В этот раз я оплатил на второй день. Привык доверять людям и никак не могу от этой привычки избавиться. Впрочем, не сильно и стараюсь, хотя иногда и попадаю, в такие вот ситуации.

Что в итоге? Когда позвонил в Sprint, чтобы активировать телефон, оказалось, что он числится в списке Lost or stolen. Написал об этом продавцу. Первый ответ был:  Вот поэтому я и ненавижу Ebay и обычно все продаю через Craiglist.

Как я понял, на Ebay есть защита покупателя а на Craiglist я даже не смотрю, хотя знаю, что многие мои друзья им пользуются.

И еще один вывод я сделал. Понял, что нужно прислушиваться к своему внутреннему голосу. Хотя бы иногда.

А что касается пповерки ESN?  Оказывается, есть в интернете места, где его можно проверить. С ходу нашел это

What began as a simple traffic stop ended in a humiliating and nightmarish ordeal for a New Mexico man. It won’t come as a surprise to most people why the man has now filed a federal civil rights lawsuit.

The incident began on Jan. 2 as David Eckert was leaving the local Walmart in Deming, N.M. He reportedly failed to make a complete stop at a stop sign, prompting police to pull him over.

The officers asked him to step out of the vehicle and claim the man appeared to be clenching his buttocks, Eckert’s attorney, Shannon Kennedy, told TheBlaze. It is unclear why police removed him from the vehicle in the first place. However, because the cops believed he was clenching his buttocks, they took it as reason to suspect him of hiding narcotics in his anal cavity.

Police officers detained Eckert after a narcotics sniffing dog allegedly issued a “hit” on Eckert’s car seat. Meanwhile, they sought a search warrant for an anal cavity search.

“What is so strange about this case is they held him with no evidence,” Kennedy said. “They seized him to collect evidence, to go on a fishing expedition on someone’s body.”

Upon securing the warrant, Deming police officers took the man to an emergency room, but hit their first snag when a doctor refused to perform the anal cavity search because he believed it to be “unethical.”

Кроме того, что, как и полагается, у нас похолодало. Начались дожди. И у меня обострился мой гайморит, который я привез еще из России.

И еще у нас перевели часы. Как и всегда. Темнеет сейчас совсем рано.

Недавно посмотрел понравившийся мне фильм: The Bucket List

Фильм отличный. Во всяком случае, мне он очень понравился.

Сегодня начал говорить об этом фильме с одной из наших помощниц, и оказалось, что эта женщина решила отказаться от диализа, как раз, после просмотра этого фильма.

После отказа, она прожила еще десять дней.

Вот так искусство влияет на жизнь некоторых людей.

Практически ничего не происходит, кроме течения времени. Закончился октябрь и до окончания этого года осталось всего два месяца.

Время уже не идет.

Это на все ту же тему, реформы здравоохранения, проводимой Обамой.

The fallout is only the latest chapter in this White Houses three-year struggle to sell the public on the Affordable Care Act, which could come to define the presidents legacy. Since signing it into law, the president has variously defended it, promoted it, simplified it and hyped it. But polling shows he has never fully sold, nor educated, the public on the vast new government healthcare program.

Publicly, the White House continued Tuesday to defend the presidents pre-launch salesmanship.

The purpose here wasnt to do anything beyond encourage people to make themselves aware of the options available to them, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said.

Behind closed doors, some officials who worked on the rollout say they wish theyd left themselves a little wiggle room. They could have done more to play up ways to sign up other than through the website, such as the call centers, said one official, requesting anonymity to discuss the planning process.

After taking heat from allies for not finding a crisp way to explain the complex law, the White House tried to boil it down to its simplest elements, the official said, and some nuance was inevitably lost.

The first administration official to testify before Congress on the matter apologized Tuesday, saying, the website has not worked as well as it should.

This initial experience has not lived up to our expectations or the expectations of the American people, and it is not acceptable, Marilyn Tavenner, the head of the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, told the House Ways and Means Committee.

Вот только одна проблема  сайт не работает.

Shopping for health insurance on the ObamaCare exchanges?

Good luck. Not only will you have to navigate the technical problems that have plagued the site  but in most states, those running the exchanges are not posting ratings that could give shoppers a clear sense of how good the plans are.

The consumer ratings are called for in the Affordable Care Act. They would be provided by a respected independent company, allowing consumers to judge health plans by treatment outcome, service and consumer satisfaction.

Federal and state officials, though, largely decided it would reflect poorly on the insurance exchanges if some companies were rated and others were not  and have not yet published them.

We think that is ludicrous, said Garry Maisel, CEO of Western Health Advantage, an ObamaCare-approved provider. Consumers deserve to know what is unrated versus what has been around a long time and has a good quality rating.

The controversy arose last week in California, when Western Advantage and two other highly rated providers  Kaiser Permanente and Sharp Health Care  complained the state failed to post their ratings because of opposition from lower-rated plans.

When a quality rating is available, consumers should have access to it, said Maisel. If I was a consumer, I would want to know [if] the plan I pick, the network of providers I access care through, was just put together or has been around a long time.

Kaiser Permanente in California is ranked #7 nationally. Blue Shield in California is ranked #414. But on the Covered California website, consumers have no way of knowing that, because the state refused to post the ratings.

Last week, officials reversed that decision and said the state will begin adding quality scores in 2015.

To make a smart choice, we need more information, that is why this rating system is so important, said health care analyst Betsy McCaughey. Otherwise choosing a plan on these exchanges is just a shot in the dark.

The National Council on Quality Assurance rates almost every health plan available nationwide on treatment, prevention and customer service. Each category is scored on a scale of 1 to 5, and then plans are ranked from best to worst.

(Reuters)  A data center critical for allowing uninsured Americans to buy health coverage under President Barack Obamas healthcare law went down on Sunday, halting online enrollment for all 50 states in the latest problem to hit the programs troubled rollout.

The data center operated by Verizons Terremark experienced a connectivity issue that caused it to shut down, affecting the federal governments already problem-plagued online marketplace Healthcare.gov and similar sites operated by 14 states and the District of Columbia, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Obama administration and company officials could not say how long it would take to fix the connectivity problem.

Separate technical problems that have stalled enrollment on Healthcare.gov since its launch on October 1 are at the heart of a new Republican effort to discredit the healthcare law, also known as Obamacare, largely through congressional investigations to determine what went wrong in building the costly and complicated implementation system.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is due to testify later this week before a House of Representatives committee, while government contractors work around the clock to improve the Healthcare.gov website.

The outage that started in the early hours of Sunday caused the data center to lose network connectivity with the federal governments data services hub, an electronic traffic roundabout that links the online health insurance marketplaces with numerous federal agencies and can verify peoples identity, citizenship, and other facts.

Я как-то писал, что в Портланде есть команда MLS Timbers, в переводе на русский, команда высшей лиги по футболу. Не по американскому футболу, а по тому виду спорта, который весь мир называет Футболом, кроме Америки, в которой для этого вида спорта придумано название Soccer.

Так вот, команда Портланда не только вышла в Playoff, но и оказалась на первом месте в турнирной таблице.

PORTLAND, Ore. – A man was shot in Southeast Portland early Sunday morning.

Police believe the shooting is gang-related.

Sgt. Pete Simpson said the officers responded to the shooting at 101st Avenue and Southeast Pardee Street around 1:20 a.m.

The officers found evidence of gunfire and spoke to several witnesses, but did not find any victims, Simpson said. As the officers were investigating, they learned a man with a gunshot wound had been dropped off at a hospital.

The victim, a man in his late teens or early 20s, was taken by ambulance to a trauma hospital. Simpson said police expect the man to survive.

Police do not have any suspect information.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Gang Enforcement Team at 503-823-4106.

Вспоминаю это и понимаю, что он писал все это об осени Орегоне. Хотя он здесь никогда и не был.

У нас сейчас стоит настоящее бабье лето, которое здесь называют Indian summer  Индейское лето. Жаль, что такая красота скоро закончится. Но, пока она есть  мы ему рады и благодарим Его за всю эту красоту.

Нужно сказать, что Йипа, вдруг, начала позировать перед камерой. До этого, ее очень нелегко было поймать в кадр, и это несмотря на ее собачье шоу-прошлое. В подтверждение этому можно показать это.

Вчера, один из моих друзей, (русский, точнее, приехал он сюда с Украины) кооторому я показал это видео, какое-то время пытался мне доказывать, что те рельсовые дороги на лестницах, это сделано для двухколесных тележек. (То есть, он сам видел эти сооружения и его пытливый мозг сделал такой вывод самостоятельно. Парень, действительно очень хороший и умный) А когда я ему объяснил, что все это сделано для инвалидных колясок, и что такие сооружения устанавливают в России везде, где это только возможно и что это стало уже почти стандартным решением проблемы доступности города для людей с инвалидностью. Услышав это он долго и с недоумением смотрел на меня, потом на мою коляску.. Потом,  опять на меня&

А нельзя ли найти того деятеля, который решил что подобные рельсовые дороги  подходят для колясок оптимально? Мне даже не хочется посмотреть ему в глаза.

Я хочу узнать имя деятеля.

Очень хочу.

Это было снято больше четырех лет назад. По каким-то причинам я не смог тогда выложить это на Youtube, (кажется, тогда youtube не позволял заливать большие файлы. Помню только, что мне пришлось заводить аккоунт на RuTube), а потом, по личным причинам не мог сам смотреть это.
