One Rolls-Royce comes from three significantly different proprietors, starting with Lord Charles, who gets the car for his wife as a wedding anniversary present. An additional owner is Paolo Maltese, a mafioso who buys the auto during a journey to Italy and leaves it with his sweetheart while he returns to Chicago. Later on, the car is had by American widow Gerda, that signs up with the Yugoslavian resistance against the attacking Nazis.
