The Eysturoy Tunnel is the largest ever infrastructure project in the Faroe Islands. Altogether, the three-branch subsea tunnel is 11.24 kilometres (6.98 mi) long, including the roundabout. Construction costs are estimated to be around 1 billion DKK. The roundabout features artwork, including large sculptures and light effects. The tunnel opened for traffic on 19 December 2020.

A small resort, not far from the top of the pass of the same name, with its many trekking and winter sports opportunities. The San Bernardino Pass with its top at 2066m, close to the beautiful mountain lake Moesola, connects the Central Swiss Alps, where German is spoken mainly, with the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. That is, the Posterior Rhine (Hinterrhein) in the north, in Grisons, to the Misox valley, also in Grisons, in the south. For eastern Switzerland, the Bernardino route is an alternative to the Gotthard Pass, as a route to Ticino. Since 1770, the road has been open to wheeled traffic and it was only between 1821 and 1832 that it was improved to ensure trade between the North and the South. In 1967, the San Bernardino Highway Tunnel on the parallel highway opened and drastically reduced traffic through the pass. It is certainly one of the most picturesque and spectacular ways to cross the Alps.
