Inside an ice cave near Tennant, California. There is a north & south passage, this is looking about 100 feet inside the north passage. This direction of the cave is marked with jumbo sized boulders (some even the size of school buses) & hard navigation as ceiling breakdown chokes the former passageway. I did not go the entire distance as ropes may be required to get past. The boulder I stood on for this panorama is about the size of a standard sedan.

Inside an ice cave near Tennant, California. There is a north & south passage, this is at the start of the south passage. The initial entrance had plenty of ice stalagmites up to three feet in height (probably more during a wet year) but after crawling through some intense breakdown the last 300 feet of this portion opened into a magnificent tunnel w/ virtually no breakdown, high ceilings up to 30 feet up & ending abruptly at a lava seal.

Look up to see clusters of hibernating bats hanging off the ceiling above.

Aerial view about 350' above Tennant, California, tucked in the middle of the woods. The 2010 census registered 41 citizens & was known in its heydey for logging. A former church existed here & public school & general store still rest in decay, boarded up after many years.

The ruins of Tolquhon Castle are what remains of a courtyard castle with a large tower house dating from the 15th century. It was essentially a fortified residence that passed to the Forbes family who extensively modified it in the late 16th century. They added an impressive gatehouse bearing their coat of arms alongside those of King James VI. It remained occupied until 1718 when the then owner was evicted following his support for the Jacobite rebellions.

The Mid-Atlantic Ridge (MAR) is a mid-ocean ridge, a divergent tectonic plate or constructive plate boundary located along the floor of the Atlantic Ocean, and part of the longest mountain range in the world. In the North Atlantic it separates the Eurasian and North American Plates, and in the South Atlantic it separates the African and South American Plates. The ridge extends from a junction with the Gakkel Ridge (Mid-Arctic Ridge) northeast of Greenland southward to the Bouvet Triple Junction in the South Atlantic. Although the Mid-Atlantic Ridge is mostly an underwater feature, portions of it have enough elevation to extend above sea level. The section of the ridge that includes the island of Iceland is also known as the Reykjanes Ridge. The ridge has an average spreading rate of about 2.5 centimetres (0.98 in) per year.
