Looking at the pool table annex room below the old gymnasium at Holden Village, Washington. Games have been played here since the mining days of the 1930s to 1950s & are still quite popular today.

Interior of the Kim Wah Chung & Company building in John Day, Oregon. It is a Chinese herbal apothocary that was built in the 1870s at which time there was a Chinatown within the town. Two immigrants, Ing "Doc" Hay & Lung On had their business here as general store proprietor & businessman. Around 1937, a fire broke out & destroyed nearly all but a few of the original Chinatown buildings. Today this is listed on the national register of historic places w/ plenty of historic relics left just as they were.

The Halifax Regional Municipality is governed by an elected mayor and 16 councillors. Councillors are elected by geographic district, with municipal elections occurring every four years. The current mayor of Halifax is Mike Savage. The council is responsible for all facets of municipal government, including the Halifax Regional Police, Halifax Public Libraries, Halifax Fire and Emergency, Halifax Regional Water Commission, parks and recreation, civic addressing, public works, waste management, planning and development. The provincial legislation that provides governance oversight to the municipality is the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter. The city also has three community councils that consider local matters. Each community council comprises five or six regional councillors representing neighbouring districts. Most community council decisions are subject to final approval by regional council. As the capital city of Nova Scotia, Halifax is also the meeting place of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, the oldest assembly in Canada and the site of the first responsible government in British North America. The legislature meets in Province House, a nearly 200-year-old National Historic Site in downtown Halifax hailed as one of the finest examples of Palladian architecture in North America. Our tropical cruise from Sydney took us to this tropical island paradise east of the coast of Queensland. We only stayed here for a few hours, just enough to sample the sights and sounds. I am very happy to experience a bit of the island life and I wish I could take it with me when I get back to Sydney - Perhaps, next time I'll stay a bit longer ... Gary Ridgway, known as the Green River Killer, was a serial killer who operated around the Seattle, Washington area from 1982 to 2000. He currently holds the record for the highest number of victims murdered in the United States at 49 (though he confessed to over 90), all of whom were young women that were either runaways or sex workers. This site (not sure if this is the exact site), close to Milepost 26 along Highway 410 near the city of Enumclaw, is the location of where four women's remains were found roughly 40 feet away from the highway in August/September 2003, nearly 20 years since their murders in 1983. One of the victim's identity remains unknown to this day. He was coined the name 'Green River Killer' after the first five victims he killed were found alongside the river which runs nearby. Considered a suspect since 1983, it wasn't until DNA analysis matched him, leading to arrest in 2001. He currently is serving life behind bars without parole.
