The north Barigazzo crest as seen from a viewpoint located along the South crest. Barigazzo crests (north and south) are both walkable but the south one is easy while the north one is more difficult with a narrow path and a pronounced slope on both sides. The original equirectangular image is on flickr.

Just before arriving at the El Paraiso Camp, the trail passes by a small waterfall nested in the forest, on the bank of the Rio Buritaca. This will be the final camp of the trek to the Ciudad Perdida or Lost City, Colombia's best archaeologial site. We are already totally immersed in the pristine rainforest of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains, in which the Ciudad Perdida was built.

We are crossing the Rio Buritaca for a last time at the end of the second day of the trek to the Ciudad Perdida, not long before reaching the final camp where we will spend the night. Walking on the pebbles of the riverbed in the shallow water is a nice experience, with all the wild mountains all around and the jungle environment.

After a very heavy rain, the wild mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta National Park are caught in the mist and the clouds. This was shot close to the trail of the trek to the Lost City or Ciudad Perdida, in Colombia. Down the slope can be seen the roof of a hut where we can buy drinks. It proved to be a fantastic viewpoint over the landscape around, with a special, mysterious atmosphere created by the clouds.

At the end of the second day, the environment around the trail of the trek becomes wilder and wilder, and the Ciudad Perdida (Lost City) is not very far anymore. We are following the Rio Buritaca again, and we will soon reach the final camp before visiting the site. We are higher in altitude in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains, totally surrounded by lush jungle. Notice the beautiful tree fern growing on the side of the path.

This is the point where the trail of the Lost City Trek crosses the Rio Buritaca. There had been a thunderstorm with very heavy rain a while before shooting this panorama, which explains the muddy waters of the river and the cloudy sky. This small bridge is a great viewpoint to the surrounding wilderness of the jungle and the mountains.

Here the trail of the Lost City / Ciudad Perdida Trek is following a mountain ridge, allowing for unobstructed views to the wilderness of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta National Park, with endless mountains covered with pristine rainforest. I was lucky enough to get a beautiful sunny and clear weather to enjoy this viewpoint.

This panorama was shot on the wild banks of the Rio Buritaca, on the pebbles and among big boulders. The trail of the Lost City trek never goes very far from this river, on its way to the Ciudad Perdida across the jungle-covered mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Shot on the second day of the trek, early afternoon.
