So I saw The Young Veins last night, and oh my god, it was fucking AMAZING.

I’m probably going to just rant and squee and just not make very much sense because it was just really really really exciting and oh my god Ryan and Jon are just really awesome and nice and Nick Squared were so tiny and Andy was really nice too and just o m g.

It started out with Nick Murray walking onstage first, and he was tinkering with his drums, and then Andy came up and then Nick White and then Jon and finally Ryan came out with his fancy schmancy guitar he wouldn’t let anyone else touch.  The room was pretty small, making the concert more ~intimate, and the stage was only about two feet high.  I was behind some people, so I wasn’t in the exact front, but I was about a yard and a half away from Ryan and Andy.

Their setlist was nine songs long, and I thought all of them were really good.  Their order was:

• Defiance
• Take a Vacation
• Change
• Dangerous Blues
• Everyone But You (with Jon singing!)
• The Other Girl
• Capetown (not sure if that’s the right title but w/e w/e)
• Maybe I Will (Jon on vox)
• Young Veins

Ryan’s singing was pretty good, and Jon was really good for his singing, as well, although he was a little quiet if I’m being honest.  I sang along to Change (unluckily you can hear my tone-deaf voice in the video I made of the song), and I think I caught Ryan looking at me once (although I think that was just me being over-imaginative).

They didn’t have much of a stage presence, although it was their second ~official show.  Ryan was kind of shy with the singing, and Jon and Andy looked down a lot, and Nick White I think was looking down at his keyboard the whole time.  Nick Murray was just really into his drums (he’s kind of small - it’s very cute)

After their set they picked up their own equipment, and some of the people in front of me left so I was now at the very front, and when Ryan came over to fiddle with some cords and plugs and whatnot my mom was urging me to ask him to sign the setlist I’d snagged, but I was all shy and self-conscious so I said no and he left without giving a signature, but he came back and when that happened I asked very shyly if he could sign it and he did and omg he was acting all shy too and it was really cute!

So they left the stage and then all the girls left the crowd to creepily watch them finish packing up on the side of the stage (I was there too, so I was also a creeping fangirl) and during that I got a shirt (they only had one design - during the set Ryan said something funny about that, but I can’t remember what it was he said exactly), and while I was getting my shirt Jon came over to fiddle with some buckles on a case and he looked up and I said hi all shy and awkward and he said hi back and was all nice and smiled and he was very very handsome and just qqokrfhsdzkasdkl.

So then when they were close to finishing packing Ryan and Jon stood by the merch table and were signing shit and taking pictures with people.  I eventually got Jon to sign the setlist and Ryan was going to sign it too but I said I’d already gotten his signature, but I don’t think he heard me ‘cause later my mom was telling me how he looked kind of confused when I just awkwardly ducked away from him xD

And when I first got over to them Jon was all nice and was all “What’s up?” and I didn’t hear him so he had to yell it louder and then I was all “oh I’m good” (/lame) and I complimented them and told him they did a very good job and then I got my picture and then I confused Ryan with the signature thing (I think it’s sort of funny that he had already forgotten he’d signed the piece of paper).

So then I got Nick Murray’s signature and my picture with him, and then I watched Foxy Shazam for a while (they have a very insane show if you’ve never seen them live), and then I got Andy’s signature and my picture with him, but I didn’t get Nick White’s signature (I also couldn’t get a picture with all of Nick Squared) ‘cause he was walking around very busily and then he just disappeared (I think he was either very shy or actually busy, but I think he was just being shy).  He was very little and cute, though.  Or, at least, he seemed little.

So then I just watched the rest of Foxy Shazam’s set and was aware that Jon was watching from behind the merch table with some girl (he was talking to her and they were standing kind of close together but I’m not sure if it was his girlfriend or just a friend), and Andy’s girlfriend was there and I saw him kiss her a few times and it was sort of awkward approaching him ‘cause I didn’t want to ~interrupt anything.

So yeah.  That was my mind-blowing night.
