She has been criticized after claiming it is a form of "cheating" for transgender women to be allowed to compete in women's sport. She wrote that it was "insane" that "hundreds of athletes who have changed gender by declaration and limited hormone treatment have already achieved honors as women that were beyond their capabilities as men."

She did more research on the subject : "Well, I've now done that and, if anything, my views have strengthened. To put the argument at its most basic: a man can decide to be female, take hormones if required by whatever sporting organization is concerned, win everything in sight and perhaps earn a small fortune, and then reverse his decision and go back to making babies if he so desires. It's insane and it's cheating. I am happy to address a transgender woman in whatever form she prefers, but I would not be happy to compete against her. It would not be fair."

Her comments were labeled "transphobic" by trans rights group Trans Actual.
Navratilova rejected accusations of transphobia, adding that she deplores "what seems to be a growing tendency among transgender activists to denounce anyone who argues against them and to label them all as 'transphobes.'"
She also highlighted her friendship with Ren'ee Richards, the transgender tennis player. 
She hopes that Caster Semenya will win her case because she has never taken any medication.

Brexit is on the horizon, the climate's more or less fucked, we're stuck with Orange Twitler for at least another year and the UK remains as divided as ever. So, with all this in mind, thank God for Steve Coogan's Alan Partridge, who's set to return to the BBC on the 25th February with his new series, This Time With Alan Partridge.

The new show features Alan replacing the regular presenter of "a One Show-style magazine programme."

The show won't directly reference Brexit because it's an issue that moves to fast to keep up with, and it's not meant to be a political satire. However, it will feature Partridge grappling with #MeToo, gender politics and everything else that's currently dividing the country. In the way that only Alan can.

A children’s sitcom, Living With The Lams, about a British Chinese family living in their own restaurant.
It was commissioned by CBBC without writers of British Chinese or East Asian descent attached to it.
Actors like Jessica Fenwick and Katie Leung have signed an open letter to CBBC in protest.
The letter contends Twenty Twenty, the production company behind the show.
They gave only two of the 10 commissioned episodes to British East Asians writers to write.
There weren’t enough British East Asian writers with the correct ‘experience’.

Two previously written pilot episodes featured puns like ‘wok and roll’
It had characters referring to each other as ‘Chongers’
The series outline also abounded with factual inaccuracies and cliches.

• Steven Spielberg accepted the Filmmaker Award at the Cinema Audio Society’s CAS Awards this past Saturday.


• In his acceptance speech he commented on making movies for theaters versus television/streaming.


• “I hope all of us really continue to believe that the greatest contributions we can make as filmmakers is to give audiences the motion picture theatrical experience [...] I love television.
