Indie Film Release Guide: February 15th [An ONTD Original]

It’s a pretty light week for new releases. From the big studios: after being pushed back a couple of times, Alita: Battle Angel finally hits theaters, along with the sequel to the surprise 2017 hit Happy Death Day. If you’re looking for something a little different, read on for some of the other options hitting theaters this week.

The films listed are from studios other than the “Big Six” - Paramount, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Universal, Columbia and Disney. Note that some of the movies listed are in their first week or two of limited release in the USA, so it may take them a few more weeks (or months) to show up in your local arthouse theater or on VOD. Check out the posts from the past few weeks for more movies that may have just opened near you: February 8th, February 1st, and January 25th.


Isn’t it Romantic

At times these threads overlap, at others they run tantalizingly close to each other.
What you should know: Premiered at TIFF 2018, and is in Korean.

In addition to the filmmakeres, directors, and cinematographers who called out the Academy yesterday for the Oscars' snub of four big categories from the broadcast on February 24, more celebs added their names to the letter, calling out AMPAS on their shit decision to not air cinematography, editing, hair/making and short-form live action live during the Oscars.

The list who added their names to the original letter include: Alfonso Curaon, Christopher Nolan, Michael Mann, Alejandro G. Inarritu, Guillermo del Toro, and actors George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Robert De Niro, Elizabeth Banks, Peter Dinklage and Kerry Washington. This is in addition to those who first signed, including Spike Lee, Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino, and many more.

Co-host of talk show The Real, stylist and television personality Jeannie Mai has started her own web series in which she will discuss her life, her messy divorce, body, beauty, family etc.

Titled "Hello Hunnay" after her famous catchphrase from The Real, the show is meant to be a self-help style segment in which she talks about all things she's learned in her 40 years of life thus far.

In the opening episode she opened up about her eating disorder, and the changes she's made to get healthier this year.

She also revealed she now lives with her mom post divorce after asking her mom to move in, and also teased changes she'll be making to her home.

She's also now the red carpet correspondant for E!.

CNN has seen the VHS tape that appears to show Kelly having sex with a girl who refers to her body parts as 14 years old. Lawyer Michael Avenatti, who is representing a man he calls a whistleblower against Kelly, says he handed the tape to the Cook County State's Attorney's Office in Chicago last weekend.
