Yep, it's usually about friends' advice. And I borrow books from them. I only buy books on the topics I'm crazy about.

As for me I can't say I associate myself with any hero, but I like to imagine whether I can be such a hero. Of cause some characters have many features that I have, but...

But the other problem is that in our town it's almost impossible to find something very interesting! and so often i try to find in the internet, but for this i must know what to read. May be you you can give some titles and some words about this book) i'll be very happy ;)

Well, usually, I don't assosiate myself with some hero of the book, but I see in him some features that I have as well, and usually there are my bad features... and I feel upset(

So, as the one to start the topic, ;) - I am just crazy about associations of the kind. Of course, not every book, just the most "beloved", e.g. (apart from my fav LOTR trilogy and other Tolkien stuff, for there I have my own legend) in "Harry Potter" series I used to feel like Hermione while I was a student, now tend to Prof. Macgonnagal :) As for movies - e.g. Matrix trilogy - though I actually adore Niobe I'm 100% Merovingian :) And feel like Jurgen in my fav "Equilibrium". However, I also have one universal association - if you happen to know - Margarita Maultasch from "Die Haessliche Herzogin" by Leon Feuchtwanger.

as for me, i usually don't preger to read books which are too popular ^) this is my position ;) but recently i read The Da Vinci Code in English and loved it very much!!! ;)
