Russia can ride out crisis, Putin asserts
Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin
believes that Russia has enough resources to
weather the
global financial crisis and its
aftermath if "we are
responsible,
focused and
task-oriented." Asked when the crisis will
be over during a
televised live broadcast, Putin explained that analysts and experts were
split on the
issue, both with
regard to the
forecasts for the
global economy and the effect on Russia. He
specified that some analysts
presaged that economic
upturn would start in the second or third
quarter of 2009.
However, most
experts do not expect the crisis to
wane until the spring of 2010, he
