He is the King

Среда, 08 Октября 2008 г. 10:34 + в цитатник

During the past week I was thinking of what to write for the journal, and what to prepare for Friday sermon that I will have to preach on the New Testament class. Nothing came to my mind, neither for the journal nor the sermon. But yesterday I had a revelation from God. It is really worth both, the journal and the sermon. It was really simple, something that I've known for years but probably did not fully understand it. It is that JESUS IS THE KING.

This journal contains the revelation that will serve the sermon preparation and the next journal will explain what impact it had on me and the practical application it had in my life.

In Matthew 6:33 Jesus says Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you. I was thinking about a kingdom and the attributes it has and came to a conclusion that it has a king that reings in it. Revelation 19:16 says that He is the King of kings and Lord of lords and in John 1:49 Phillip states You are the Son of God, You are the King of Israel. When I was thinking about what it means to me, God revealed that He reigns in His Kingdom. And Jesus clearely commanded to seek His Kingdom. It struck when God told me that He wants to reign in my heart. He wants to set up His Kingdom in my life and in my heart. But what does it mean to reign? To a citizen it means to obey the King, to follow Him. And that is what He said to the Apostles. In John 1:43 He said to Phillip follow Me and you shall see greater things, and in Mark 1:17 He said to Peter and Andrew follow Me and I will make catch men, and in Mark 2:14 to Matthew follow Me, Matthew 4:21 says about Jacob and John called them. 1 Thess 2:12 says He who calls you into His Kingdom and glory. He calls us into His Kingdom as He called the Apostles. He wants us to follow Him, obey Him, humble ourselves and acknowledge that He rules. As I have already said, He wants to reign in our heart, and in our lives. He wants to reign in our finances, time, families. Everithing. He wants us to see greater things and He said to Phillip. He wants us to catch men as He said to Peter and Anrew. In Ephesians 3:20-21 Paul says Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! It means that we are not capable of even to imagine what He is able to do in us, and our lives, and all around us.

But here is the question. Do we let Him do it? Do we let Him do the great things in our lives? Do we let Him reign in us? Do we follow Him when He calls us? Do we go places with Him?  Or maybe we set up office hours when he can come to us? Maybe we tell Him to come between 10 am and 7 pm and tell Him that we have a luch break at noon?

I personally believe the greatness of things depend on how much we let Him reign in our lives. Moreover, when He said seek ye forst the Kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you, He meant follow Me and I will provide the rest.
