Techniques used in this pattern (British term / American term):

Chain stitch – ch

Slip stitch – sl.st

Double crochet / Single crochet – dc/sc

Pull the hook through the loop with tr/dc on it.

5 tr/dc popcorn st – popcorn st: work 5 tr/dc in the same stitch, drop the loop from your hook. Insert your hook from front to back under the top 2 loops of the first double crochet of the group and grab the dropped loop. Pull it through the stitch.

Stitch – st

Row 1: Skip 3ch, 1tr/dc in each of the next 4ch, * work 1tr/dc with loop: 1tr/dc in next ch, 8ch, turn and work 1dc/sc in last tr/dc below,

turn, work 12 dc/sc in ring of 8ch,

insert hook under the 2 loops of tr/dc and make sl.st. Make 1tr/dc in each in the next 11ch; rep from *.

Work 1tr/dc with loop in next ch, 1tr/dc in each of the next 5ch, turn.

Row 2: Work 3ch, 1tr/dc in each of the next tr/dc below, 1tr/dc in 3rd ch.

Row 3 & 4: Repeat Row 2.

Row 5: 3ch, 1tr/dc in each of the next 4tr/dc below, * work 1 popcorn st in next tr/dc through the loop below: insert your hook into the loop below and under the top 2 loops of the tr/dc. Pull the hook through the loop with tr/dc on it. Work 1 popcorn st in this tr/dc.

Row 6, 7 & 8: Repeat Row 2.

Row 9: 3ch, 1tr/dc in each of the next 4 tr/dc below, * 1tr/dc with loop in next st, 1tr/dc in each of the next 5 tr/dc below, 1popcorn st through the loop, 1tr/dc in each of the next 5 tr/dc below; rep from *, 1tr/dc with loop in next st, 1tr/dc in each of the next 4 tr/dc below, 1tr/dc in 3rd ch, turn.

Repeat rows 2 - 9 until you have reached your desired length.

Colors & rows: 1 – white; 2, 3 and 4 – blue; 5 – purple; 6, 7 and 8 – white; 9 – blue; 10, 11 and 12 – purple.
