The daisy stitch creates a multiple colors design. This pattern would be great for hats, scarves and baby blankets.

Daisy stitch: Slip as if to purl next 5 sts to RH needle dropping extra wraps, slip them back to LH needle, (purl 1, yarn over, purl 1, yarn over, purl 1) into all 5 stitches together.
With color A, cast on: multiple of 6 sts + 1 .
Row 1 (Right side) : With color A, knit 1, * knit 5 wrapping yarn twice around needle for each knit st, knit 1; rep from * to end.
Row 2: With color A, purl 1, *
daisy stitch, purl 1; rep from * to end.
Row 3: With color B, knit 3 wrapping yarn twice around needle for each knit st, knit 1, * knit 5 wrapping yarn twice around needle for each knit st, knit 1; rep from * to last 3 sts, knit 3 wrapping yarn twice around needle for each knit st.
Row 4: With color B, purl 4, *
daisy stitch, purl 1; repeat * to last 3 sts, purl 3.
Row 5: With color C, repeat row 1.
Row 6: With color C, repeat row 2.
Row 7: With color A, repeat row 3.
Row 8: With color A, repeat row 4.
Row 9: With color B, repeat row 1
Row 10: With color B, repeat row 2.
Row 11: With color C, repeat row 3.
Row 12: With color C, repeat row 4.
Repeat rows 1-12 until you have reached your desired length.
Aster Flowers

With color A, cast on a multiple of 6 sts + 1.
Row 1 (WS): Color A, knit all sts
Row 2 (RS): Color B, SL 1, * K5-wrapping yarn twice around needle for each st, SL 1; repeat from * to end.
Row 3: Color B, SL 1, * Aster flower, SL 1; repeat from * to end.
Row 4: Color A, K1, * K5, knit next stitch with the loose strand behind; repeat from * to last 6 sts, K6.
Row 5: Color A, knit all sts.
Row 6: Color B, SL 4, * K5-wrapping yarn twice around needle for each st, SL 1; repeat from * to last 3 sts, SL 3.
Row 7: Color B, SL 4, * Aster flower, SL 1; repeat from * to last 3 sts, SL 3.
Row 8: Color A, K4, * K5, knit next stitch with the loose strand behind; repeat from * to last 9 sts, K9.
Row 9: Color A, knit all sts.
Repeat rows 2-9.
