“your pupil (зрачок) unconsciously dilates (расширяется) to objects and events that you find attractive or interesting. Thirsty people’s eyes dilate to pictures of cold water. Sex and gender differences also affect dilation. Women’s eyes tend to dilate to pictures of men especially partially clad me and also nude men. Virtually all women’s eyes dilate to pictures of babies. Men’s but not women’s eyes dilate to landscapes perhaps suggesting the more adventuresome nature of men. So your pupils may give you away during interpersonal interaction. Our eyes constrict to objects we dislike. Many generations have known about the pupil dilation. Hundreds of years ago in Italy wealthy women used a drug called belladonna. When they administered small amount of it to the eye their pupils dilated making them appear attractive. The name of the drug comes from ancient Italian and means “pretty women”.
