Witty Pretty Kitties |
First off, large predators generally don't date smaller animals. It's partly an ego thing, big carnivores are meant to be tough and dominating, thus it's seen as undignified to "lower oneself" by accommodating a small partner (eg. squatting to be at their eye level, eating off their tiny plates and cups, etc). There's also the very real danger of a large carnivore hurting a smaller partner by accident....so most animals aim for love somewhere within their size range....and often, preferably within their own species.
Welp, Shari was out with the girls at a bachelorette party one night when they notice a teeny sphynx kitty entirely out of place in the large carnivore section, sipping a whiskey and shooting Shari nervous glances whenever he thinks she's not looking. Giggling to themselves, the lionesses dare Shari to go talk to him.....if she isn't too chicken, of course. Shari grins and says something like "I'm gonna snap that twink like a toothpick", then sashays on over like, well....a lion on the prowl.
Calvin recalls being approached by a gorgeous golden mountain of a woman probably hoping to intimidate him into bolting and earning a laugh from her friends....upon which he flipped the script, asked her to dance, then dipped that pretty pretty 300 pound predator, right there on the dance floor. Who's the flustered one now?
Years later, Calvin is hopelessly smitten with his giant wife and writes her sonnets to this day. Shari adores her teeny husband and is happy to carry him around when he tires of keeping up with her longer strides (or is just lazy), and dote on him and give all the kissies to his handsome wrinkly face. Shari brings home the (metaphorical) bacon, while Calvin works from home as a horror novelist. He was also an enthusiastic stay-at-home dad when their sole, much beloved kitten Priscilla was born. Shari's office is plastered with photos of her itty bitty kitty family.
(The general rule of reproduction in Fuzzbutts is that any two sapient animals can have children, so long as the size difference is not too extreme (eg. a mouse and a moose just can't reproduce). The child will always be the same species as one of the parents, not both. A lion/housecat couple has a 50/50 chance of producing either a kitten or a lion cub. As in our world, hybrids are very rare and do not occur unless the two parent species are quite genetically similar. (eg. a horse and a donkey can produce a mule offspring). Children of interspecies couples nonetheless inherit some minor traits from the unrepresented parent- Priscilla may not be a lioness, but she did get her mother's baby blue eyes and thunderous temper.)
2.) someone asked if Priscilla is a trans girl like Magnolia, the answer is yes! She's a teeny trans lesbean. Although where Magnolia May knew she was a girl from around the age of five, Priscilla took a bit longer to figure herself out. She did not begin her transition until she was in her mid-twenties, out of college and well into her career.
Priscilla Sinclaire was born into a well-off family, the only child of a high-flying business lioness and a big name horror author. An academic all-star and all-around clever kitty, Priscilla was fast-tracked through her upper education and straight into a prestigious, well-paying (if a bit stressful) job in business finance. She is shown here as an adorable babygay, just lookit her little tie! It's the first time she tied it herself without Mummy's help. Back then, she was very much still under the impression that she was a typical tiny tomcat.
Priscilla was happy with her life and job. Mostly. Well, it didn't leave much time for her creative interests. Or dating.....but that was okay, because she didn't have much confidence around ladies anyway. She never knew what to do with her hands, or what to talk about. Priscilla never felt particularly comfortable in her own skin, but she always chalked that up to her breed. Sphinx cats are often considered to be, well.....an acquired taste. So while Priscilla never quite felt handsome, she never felt ugly either. Just okay. Sometimes she daydreamed about waking up in the body of a different cat....but she tried not to dwell on it.
One night, after burning away the midnight oil at the office, Priscilla is strolling down a row of popular night clubs, and on a whim, decides to pop inside one, just to see what all the fuss is about. This is where she would stumble across the drag show that would change her life forever.
It's love at first sight. The lights, the fashion, the glamour, the fun of it all! Priscilla sets out at once to make a secret drag queen alter ego all her own. Except oops, she doesn't know a thing about fashion or make-up. Countless Zootube videos are eagerly watched. She doodles ideas in the margins of her desk work. She never actually finds the courage to take her drag persona on the road, but gosh is it nice to dress up at home. It becomes how she relaxes after a long day at work. Even discarding her more outrageous drag ideas and just sitting around in ordinary ladies clothes, twirling her skirt in front of the mirror, playing at being a girl just for fun, maybe even daring a trip out to the local coffee shop and being ridiculously delighted when the barista calls her "miss".....it all makes Priscilla so happy. It feels right.
eventually something clicks, and Priscilla shifts from "I like dressing up like a girl" to "Goodness gravy, I think I am a girl". Not too soon after this revelation, she decides to leave the finance world and pursue her newfound love of cosmetology. She attends beauty school, with the dream of using her savings to open her own all-animal inclusive beauty salon. The career change is what upset her parents the most, "You can be a girl and still stay a financial analyst, you know! You were so close to making associate banker, for fluff's sake think this through please!", buuuut ultimately, they support their only child and whatever dream she wants to follow. They even offered to help contribute and acquire a luxury boutique space for Pris, but Priscilla has insisted on paying for/managing her salon all on her own. It's exhausting work sometimes, and Priscilla is certain that if she had fur it'd be going grey prematurely, but honestly? She's never felt happier.
