The Wedge-Tail eagle is the largest bird of prey in Australia. The males are typically smaller than the females and their wingspans range between 182 and 232 cm (6ft - 7.7ft). Being the largest prey bird in the country they will take any prey that is convenient at the time. Their prey varies from native species such as wombats, koalas, possums etc to introduced species such as rabbits and brown hares. At times their prey will also consist of other smaller birds.
