I usually tend to do gray scaling with my pieces, however I thought it'd be a nice challenge to try something different. So I decided to paint this one using only one layer just using basic digital brushes! It was also nice not being limited to gradient maps when it comes to color selection.
More info about the piece: I recently watched a documentary on avian dinosaurs and their intellect! Then did some more research and learned that crows can be very smart, and even use tools! So I got inspired to have Godzilla using Kong's axe against the ape! I also feel like reptiles don't get enough credit for their smarts and learning abilities, so that's why I gave them the axe. In terms of the background, I thought there was going to be a Hollow Earth fight between Godzilla and Kong. I wasn't let down when it didn't happen, but I felt it would've been a spectacular addition to the film. As a result, I had my piece taking place in the Hollow Earth! I never ever thought I'd be drawing an almost mirrored landscape like this. It was quite the experience!
