&Some zoos still recognize the North Chinese Leopard (Panthera Pardus Japonensis) as a subspecies, but it has been subsumed under the Amur Leopard in 2017.

&They differ from other Leopard subspecies by its thick, cream-colored fur, particularly in winter. During the summer, their fur is brighter with a more vivid coloration pattern.

&Amur Leopards live solitary lives, unless they have offspring. They are more active during the day than at night and during twilight, and have large territories in which they hunt  which become smaller when females have young cubs.

&The Amur Leopard is considered one of the rarest cats on Earth. Estimates put the surviving wild population at 19-26 individuals in 2007, in 2015 they believed there were 60 individuals and camera traps have identified 92 individuals in the transboundary area around the Russian-Chinese border.

&They face many threats to their survival, such as poaching, poaching of their prey, habitat loss, deforestation and exploitation of forests. Inbreeding due to the low numbers is also a risk, and genetic research of collared individuals already shows a decrease in genetic diversity.
