Remember this from 2019?: Like Looking in a Mirror by GingyGin on DeviantArt

Well it began to slowly degrade in my perspective as my art improved over time. I realized that the shading was lazy, and that the shading, in fact, made Xodeus/Exodus look like he had dirt rubbed on him. It was poorly done and the anatomy was wonky- not to mention that the background was simple and unappealing, and not very reflective of what the short story in the description said- which was an old castle.

So I decided to redo that artwork, fixing the anatomy with my current Sonic style and fixing the positioning of the two characters (Sonic mainly, since he was a bit too far down in the original), hard-shaded to make it look crisp and clean, added a painted background of some of the castle's curtains with a darkened wall behind it- plus some shadowy smoke to add to Dark Sonic's effect, and lastly added lighting at the top of the frame to brighten it up a bit where needed. And I have to say I'm definitely happier with this version than the old, and I'm glad I tackled it to redo it- which I always seem to start but sometimes never finish.
